It's beyond irony that Talk Sport would find a bottom feeder like Farnell to comment on the indiscretions of Manchester City. He and Elliott were trying to get CAFC shut down so they could strip the last few assets off it. And I have a feeling they walked away richer for their efforts, thanks to whatever TS did to get rid of them.
Unlucky Wrexham tonight took Sheffield United all the way for 180 minutes. I know they've had money pumped in to get them up into the Football League, but that alone shouldn't be enough for them to seriously challenge a top Championship team - twice. Credit where it's due. A mighty effort by an up-and-coming team. Their fans can return to Wales with plenty of pride tonight.
Doesn't seem to have hit the UK news yet but revelations here in Spain today that FC Barcelona paid just under 1.5m euros between 2016 and 2018 to the vice president of the referees baord here in Spain. Take a minute to think what you might want for a series of 33 payments of varying amounts between 30,000 euros (the smallest) and 90,000 euros (the biggest). The president of FCB has not denied the claims, but in a piece of spin worthy of ESI, claimed it was 'interesting' thta these claims should come to light just as the team are playing well, and threatened legal actions against anyone who defamed the name of FC Barcelona. I also saw another quote which said the payments were 'to ensure the referees were neutral' which is about as bizarre a claim as you could hope for. The maximum penalty for trying to bribe referees is for the club to be automatically relegated, and if this is true, I hope they get a big drop for this. But Spain and Spanish football tend to be very protective of elites and their big two football clubs and I imagine Barça will consider paying more money to try and muddy the waters and get some slap on the wrist fine.
Bad luck Erik Ten Hag He just gets the circus at Man Utd under control - and along comes a Qatari Sheikh and buys the Club One thing new owners never do is keep the current management team in place for long.
Bolton Wanderers will soon be playing at the Tough-sh*t stadium https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-64704208
I think this new independent regulator for English football is a good idea The Premier League, EFL, UEFA and FIFA have failed miserably to look after our game. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64536218 I just hope it is going to be truly independent. Not run by Government cronies.
Meet FIFA's new Global Fan Ambassador... Adriana Lima Sepp Blatter is obviously as influential now as he ever was. He's certainly a fan of her globals What an example to set for young female players wanting to be taken seriously in football That organisation couldn't destroy its credibility more if it was actually trying.
UP THE HADDOCKS! Saints 0-2 Grimsby in the FA Cup... I just heard on the TV this morning that Grimsby are the first team ever to knock out FIVE teams from higher leagues in a single FA Cup season
Saw some Notts County at Victoria on their way to Bromley, I wished them all the best, they replied with f*** the taffs
Antonio Conte About to be sacked from Spurs effectively in disgrace. He was shortlisted for February's Premier League Manager of the Month I remember thinking Why? when I heard that. There must be six or seven other PL managers who did far better jobs in February than Conte, and were far more worthy to be on that short-list. The award is a joke.
And why will it apparently cost £2 billion to refurbish Old Trafford? There was huge outcry when the FA splurged £1 billion building the new Wembley Stadium from scratch. Sums of money in football at the elite level are getting beyond stupid.
Money in football has been crazy for ??????? years. It's not the game I knew when I started going in the 70's. Footballers can kiss my
If I'm not mistaken, both Burnley and Sheffield United (1st & 2nd in the Championship) now have EFL transfer embargos on them. Coincidence?
