Millwall chief executive Steve Kavanagh has praised Leeds United’s response to the coronavirus suspension.

The English Football League has seen all fixtures postponed across the divisions until April 30 at the earliest following the health crisis that is sweeping the globe.

Leeds sit top of the Championship with just nine games remaining as Marcelo Bielsa’s side look to end a 16-year drought without Premier League football.

Whites managing director Angus Kinnear has pushed for the season to be concluded no matter how long it takes with public health the club’s primary concern.

A number of reports had suggested that one option was for the top two in the Championship to be automatically promoted to the top flight with no relegation taking place across the leagues in England.

Although unlikely, Leeds have remained staunch in their stance of focusing on the integrity of the competition.

UEFA announced this week that Euro 2020 was to be postponed until next year in order to prioritise a conclusion across Europe’s domestic leagues.

The Football Association has also now committed to concluding the campaign on the pitch with the current season on hold indefinitely.

As a result, domestic games could now be played well into the forthcoming summer.

Lions chief Kavanagh, though, admits he has been impressed by United’s handling of the situation which has emerged in difficult circumstances.

“The EFL are in constant communication, they’re sending out notes almost daily,” Kavanagh said.

“There’s communication with board directors and clubs are talking.

”You saw Luton Town and Leeds United come out to say how important it was to finish the season, which I thought was a fantastic message from the two teams who could have self interest.

“They have sent out a strong message that this is not about self-interest, let’s not speculate, let’s get to a position where we can make clear, good decisions that can allow us to move forward.

“We’ve got to remain positive and hopefully we can get going as soon as we can.”

If it all comes to **** and the season is declared, I think Leeds and West Brom should go up and two from the Prem come down. (Hope it's Villa, my mate's a supporter :1980_boogie_down: )

Seriously? I'd like to see you lot out of this division, you're tainting a good comp. And take your wog manager with you. You're constantly moaning about being ill used by the FA. Get into the bog boy's club and see how much better you fare.

Leeds have far more important worries than this season finishing (as do most clubs).
More worrying for Leeds is that their owners business is based on sport on TV - there isn't any!!! Add the fact that Leeds wage bill is one of the highest, they will be one of the first that need to take measures.

FC Sion have just sacked 9 players for refusing to take pay cuts, won't be long before it happens here.

You're forgetting 25,000 season ticket renewals and 50,000 memberships are renewing atm. The 3 million TV money means nothing to Leeds where as it's a massive part of your revenue.
Little clubs like millwall, Macclesfield etc will probably go bust and have to come back as amateurs, Leeds and the other big sides will be fine. ;)

What chesh said about season tickest renewals etc is true.

Also corporates are renewing this week and it's gone up 20%...still sold out though. It may surprise a few to learn that income from that will easily top £10 million and is close to equaling the income from non corporate sales.

Plenty of money in the bank.

Millwall and Charlton will combine assets and fan base and become one Mickey Mouse club called Milton Athletic

Millwalls Jed Wallace has done something TC could never do, he's said Leeds and WBA are the best 2 teams in the league.

I heard him say "irons" rather than hoofers, but I could have been mistaken.
