If you listened to more music than what is played on the radio and on MTV, you will very quickly realise that Eminem's lyrics are obscene, childish, repetitive and somewhat drawn out. You want a real lyricist? Try Leonard Cohen.
A new song but i've got a feeling some of you might like it...
That's a great song chris
A rather relaxing song.
I was in the biz for years. I've worked with many bands and had rave reviews for stuff I've done that got nowhere. Obscurity doesn't impart credibility, it just means you're **** at marketing. And credibility can't write hooks. I won't post any of my obscure "credible" stuff but here's yours truly giving the customers what they want and having a bloody good mainstream time doing it:
Just to show I know a little about contemporary British music.
I agree with what you say and i'm not overly keen on eminem. But to back up the point that Unbiased Opinion made eminem's music was given to many language experts in academia, in particular at Cambridge and Oxford universities. They clearly stated that the way eminem puts his lyrics together has never been done by anyone, the way he rhymes syllables etc etc is unheard of by any artist ever. They even stated that he is unquestionably the 'modern day Shakespeare'. Although, i would like to stress once again i am personally not a huge fan, although his talent is clearly evident.
P.S. Talking of Leonard Cohen... this is a remix by plan B (not for the faint hearted!)
Quite like this tune while im on the topic of Plan B!
you fool? the only good songs eminem has is not on the radio, you absolute idiot how is it childish? listen to stan, sing for the moment, lose yourself ( yeah i know they kinda hover in and out of the radio ) the way i am, mosh, white america, we as americans, yellow brick road. they all tell a story and all make alot of sense, and are all very clever with great meaning, dont say eminem is repetitive or childish when you've probabily heard maybe 5 out of over 500 of his songs. dont comment when you know nothing, the only childish album he has is relapse, and yet still some great songs there, Underground, beautiful and another one which is in my head right now but i cant pull it out right now, ill come back with it, and alot more acctually. you sir know nothing, dont attempt to look like you do. please. P.s thanks skylarker even if you dont like him, 2pac and eminem are the best rappers ever ( eminem for me though ) im not going to lie im a huuuugeee fan, been listening to him for over 10 years and im only 16, and hes only been out about 13 years, so it tells you something
hmm how about i classify it as poetry? something greater? but out of curiosity what music do you like? if you say anything near screamo or metal, rap is alot closer to music than screamo, as screamo is litrally screaming into the mic about how you might kill yourself. and at chriswood i know its a matter of opinion, but there is no way that eminem has childish lyrics, thats the reason people love him, cause hes unique, raps about real things, ausrelio's doctor is just talking **** out of his ass. truly.
You all need to listen to a bit more DnB
If you look back at my posts in this thread you will get an idea of the kind of music that I like - its fairly eclectic really. I truly was posting a question. Whilst Rap is not 'my cup of tea' it does have its advocates. I think what i was suggesting is that rather then being classified as music (whatever that is?), Rap appears to me to be closer to Performance Art. I have to say though I hate what the influence of Rap has done to Soca
