I honestly can't see how West Ham can sack Allardyce right now. They've just publicly backed him so a U-turn makes the board look amateurish, and even if they did sack him, how would they pay him off? They're scraping around league 1 for loan signings, and appear to want a striker on loan from France or Italy, so clearly don't have the money for signings. Whether they can afford the £7.5m pay-off or not, it's going to leave an empty transfer kitty for the new manager. Added to that, it's clearly a "Big Sam" squad made for direct, powerful football. Allardyce is probably in a class of two along with Pulis at being able to play that type of football effectively, but it's clearly not working for him. If the new manager wants to play differently, he's got a heck of a job on his hands. It took Mark Hughes a while to get Stoke to adjust, and that was after he could bring in a few players to help him change the style. Going to be very interesting to watch what happens there in the rest of January! Malky to take over?
Sullivan and Gould still backing BS according to the BBC website - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25666014!!!!
Is the general consensus that he should go? Seems mighty harsh given their treatment table. For those moaning about our injury crisis, there's an actual injury crisis. When you have to get in p1sshead roger Johnson in on loan from league 1!! Then things are bad...real bad... What happened to Johnson anyway? I think I remember arsenal and spurs sniffing around a few years back.
Through the TV, the singing of the travelling West Ham fans was quite audible. It was pre-watershed, but every time the chants suggesting politely that Sam might like to consider going forth and multiplying, Sky Sports relished in cutting to a shot of him chewing the cud.
