I had an 850T5 estate was a great car, bit soft suspension but went very well especially with a bit of extra boost
I ended up buying an 850 T5 Estate too! Loved that car to death and still regret ever getting rid of it. Pains me to this day. Have an S60 T5 these days and love that thing too, but wish I'd kept the old wagon. It was watching the 850s at track that made me just love Volvos.
At least there was a bit of tension in it. Even though it kept fizzling out.. Great watching the cars go around there though. Just not great racing.
yeah, took a few races to get his eye in, but he's showing he's still got it, unless that Alpine is a lot faster than we think it is.
Mine was great, in the 5 years I had it only thing that went wrong was cooling fan. Just serviced it regularly and lots of front tyres only sold it as turbo was on it's last legs and fancied a change. I did recently look at the newer versions but it would have to be a diesel but decided a van might be better for what I need What I should have done was take turbo off and rebuild it. It was just seals going.
I do quite like Rosberg's questions today - he grilled Toto about the timing of the pit stop to come out in 3 back markers. On the grid he also admitted he couldn't be bothered to get out of car and go to loo before starts in Williams so he just peed his race suit!!! The bad bit - he didn't tell the engineers!!!
Think the only issue that I had was struts and a couple of vacuum leaks. That and I had somebody run a stop sign and ride over the front of it... Somehow it just never felt the same after that so wound up trading it. But boy I miss it. Had it like 6 or 7 years. Body roll was ridiculous in the thing, but it took off like a rat up a drain pipe. So wish I'd kept hold of it. I keep looking to find an R version or a V70R, but they're few and far between over here that aren't on their death bed.
Agreed, I thought Toto was gonna slap him at one point! A great round of questioning straight to the point. looks like George to Merc is announced in Monza
Anyone think it was odd Mercedes pitted Bottas. And when Bottas asked why they answered: "....because of the vibrations?"
It's did seem odd.... Didn't see any messages from him complaining about vibrations. Guess they must have had a reason though.
It's almost like they pitted him in case Lewis's tyres blew or they knew Lewis had vibrations, and then he would have had to limp back to pits to change them. I am surprised they didn't think he might go for a fastest lap especially as they gave him softs. Seems a very strange strat call.
Catching up on all the post race stuff I missed while I'm prepping dinner, and I think Lando having a fit of the giggles because he said "blowy" might just be the highlight of the weekend. The bloke is still like 12 mentally, and I love that because so am I.
Pretty sure it was just to clear him out of the way so Hamilton could pit and get fastest lap. But pretty poor to lie about it to him.
Hamilton already had fastest lap, and nobody was likely to really go for it. They only pit Hamilton because Bottas threw a spanner in the works.
I think he didn't have a very strong hold on it, and he could only pit at the end of lap 70/72 or Verstappen would have been able to pit and have a go too. Bottas was only 7 tenths faster than Verstappen's fastest lap, and Hamilton knocked 1.5 seconds off that with his late run. I'm somewhat surprised Perez wasn't sacrificed to have a go at it. I guess they decided 4 Constructor's points was more important than maybe denying Hamilton 1 point in the Driver's championship. But that's not consistent with how they've used Perez until now.
I think you might have just hit it.... Maybe Bottas was pit with the hope that move may prevent them sacrificing Perez to attempt a last minute fastest lap.. But did Perez have enough of a gap to pit and stay in the top 10? Also... I'm not sure RBR would have risked pitting Max from the lead just to try get fastest lap. That's a massive gamble. Imagine trying that and getting a muffed stop. The risk wouldn't be worth the reward.
Though I still wish Bottas would have just said eff it and stuck an absolute blinder in there... Just for the fun of it.
