Seems like the FIA say the sample should be 1000ml! They are chatting to the stewards but can't see them winning that argument. So looks like Lewis may get a few more points and carlos gets 3rd and Kimi gets a point if Vettel is excluded!

There's also rumours of the entire grid (but Hamilton) being in trouble for being given advice to pit on restart. Driver coaching on prep lap or something.

Seems a little excessive to be honest. Vettels a gonner with the fuel, but the rest should be fine.

I hate results changing after the event. Just never sits right.

But yes, as people are saying, the Alonso v Hamilton battle was just immense. Proper edge of the seat viewing. Loved every second of that fight. NEED MOAR!!!

Sorry, but don't feel robbed at all. It was a great race. Max should have got himself on the front row and we likely would have avoided the carnage caused by Bottas at the start, as Bottas would have been behind Hamilton at the start.

I don't disagree with the comments about Lewis and Alonso, stella defending by Alonso, who interestingly was surprised that Lewis took so many laps to figure what he needed to do.
Much as I have disliked the the last two weeks I am disappointed that both Redbulls were effectively taken out of today's race, gave me no satisfaction although one could argue it is Karma.

He has looked exhausted after several of the races this year. Long COVID is very real.

He must be thankful there's no race in Singapore this year.

Vettel’s DQ for lack of fuel sample has been confirmed. What difference does it make if they can’t provide 1L of fuel at the end of the race? What are they going to find in 1L that they can’t find in 300ml?

Harsh but in theory he was driving round about 0.7kg lighter than he should have been or not saving enough fuel. So in theory Lewis would have caught him or he would have been further back and Carlos would have caught him as well. In fact had he had the correct level of fuel Carlos might have passed him earlier and Lewis might still have been 3rd!!!

It's a pity as it was nice to see Seb back on podium and it would do him the world of good mentally.

Gutted for Vettel. He deserved that podium. Certainly doesn't feel like that punishment fits the crime - can anyone explain why they can't work with 0.3l and why the punishment is so harsh? I'd get it I'd it was 0.03l!

Because the rule states they must be able to supply 1litre of fuel at end of race.

Vettel has fallen foul of this rule before, 2012? As has Hamilton, also in 2012 I believe

It's harsh, but they all know the rules.

Big **** up from the team, presumably they didn't communicate how the dire the fuel situation was to Seb.

Glad to see Hamilton okay- really hope it isn’t long Covid and more that he’s just gone absolute fully on the limit for back to back races for large parts of the race.

That said, today very clearly tested him physically. It’s the first time today he has ever looked his age- really surprised and worried me. A reminder that he won’t drive forever and why we should enjoy some of his awesome drives, as we did Alonso today. Two proper champions.

Here’s hoping those clever scientists and medics find a way to help people recover from this horrible thing.
