wtf? How on earth did they let Custard boy win that after the way he cut the chicane? Absolutely farcial
Fell asleep after a handful of laps. Was gunning for Heidfeld. Gone a bit cold for FE. Just seems a slow and in a sense a bit of a childish racing series. Doesnt help when they hold races when the other side of the world (the side that includes Europe) is about to go to bed at night.
Not a classic from Long Beach this evening, Buemi trying to make things interesting. Interesting news that the battery deal for season 5 (2018-19) has just gone out to tender. One of the demands is that they will last the whole race, so no need to change cars. I'll be curious to see how they handle that in terms of regulations. Currently the tyres are already designed to last the whole race (as that's eco-friendly), and with a battery that lasts a full race there's no need for pitstops. I wonder if they'll change something to try and mix up strategies, and engineer cars out of position for overtaking. Otherwise after the opening few laps the gaps between cars will probably just increase.
they need sub-woofers in the sidepods with an oscillator pitched to the accelerator, and more power of course.
well, I've just watched Mexico race, a great race, lots of action some risky strategies, one failed valiantly, the other was success. Lots of swearing on the radio, if you like that sort of thing. It's certainly better than it was, you have some f1 standard drivers in similar machines that don't suffer in the wash as much where slight mistakes are generally punished with an over-take or 2. the highlights are well worth a watch.
I've generally quite enjoyed it when I've watched formula E. It's not quite there yet but in time hopefully it'll improve where it's lacking and keep what's good about it.
Watch a bit last night, it's quite good. Very close racing, you make an error you lose a load of places. Those cars look very slidey on those skinny tyres! I'm fascinated by being able to hear the tyres squeal as they corner.
Not watched this for a while, just watching the NY one now, it's like F1 online, people divebombing every slow corner and near constant ramming happening!
They need to seriously look at where they are racing, a lot of the tracks makes the racing look amateurish.
I think Ferrari need to get in on Formula E too, there was talk about them joining soon, so it needs to happen.
Going to give this thread a bump with Season 5 approaching soon. Current lineups: Envision-Virgin-Audi: Sam Bird, Robin Frijns Panasonic Jaguar: Nelson Piquet Jr, Mitch Evans HWA-Venturi: Stoffel Vandoorne, Gary Paffett Dragon-Penske: Jose Maria Lopez, TBA. ABT-Audi: Lucas Di Grassi, Daniel Abt NIO: Tom Dillmann, Oliver Turvey Venturi: Felipe Massa, Edoardo Mortara Nissan e.Dams: Alex Albon, Seb Buemi DS Techeetah: JEV, Andre Lotterer BMW Andretti: Alexander Sims, Antonio Felix da Costa Mahindra: Jerome d'Ambrosio, Pascal Wehrlein(?) So 22 cars, 13 races, new Gen 2 cars with more power. Some rule changes: -Car swaps are gone, I'm not sure if they're mandating a pitstop or not? -Races will now last 45 mins + 1 lap. -Fanboost appears to be gone! But there still has to be some stupidity - drivers will get a "Mario Kart-style boost" for driving a particular section of off-line track. The number of boosts and it's duration will be announced as the race begins, so it can't be incorporated into strategy easily. Disappointingly, the cars will run the shorter Monaco lap again, robbing us of direct comparisons to other series. There was talk of the full lap being used. Nevertheless, hopefully it'll be a good season. The field looks particularly strong with some decent drivers and new manufacturers.
A couple of interesting things about the lack of engine noise: I found myself getting really irritated by the helicopter drowning out the sci-fi whine of the car It didn't convey any sense of how fast the car was going. The only clue was the number of spectators saying things like "OMG" and "Holy ****"
