    "Quivering over the ballot paper."
Should I buy a home on Hessle foreshore, given the "Dead Cat Bounce" in sterling and the additional compounding impact of rising tidal levels on the river Humber ?
Have the results of this general election made my decision any easier ?
Baffled on t'other side of Atlantic.
    Alan Johnson still around ?

Brexit party lost the tories votes if you believe all those voters would have voted Conservative. Its probably more correct to say that they diluted the Labour vote.

Also, again more feelings than argument:

    The Lib Dems.

I remember about 4 or 5 weeks ago when they were being a cocky and bullish (next PM line) I saw some odds of 4-1 for 30 Lib Dem seats or under. I was ready to lump on but, being a City fan, I have this tendency to believe that betting on things I like/want to happen might somehow jinx it.

Their campaign in a lot of ways, seemed to be more about stopping Corbyn than stopping Brexit. I know she was making a play for Tory seats, and that attack would in theory help that, but ultimately it helped play into the pro-Brexit hands.

Plus, those bar charts (Google it if you didn't see them) were beyond parody. Fake news central.

She seemed to get more unpopular every time she spoke.

As said, I don't know exactly and is more of a first interpretation.

But seeing trends (at first glance, could be wrong) in 'red wall' seats (and hearing andecdotal evidence) it seemed that many of your previous non-Tory working-class voters were prepared to go blue anyway.

However, if you have already identified some seats were BXP votes clearly helped the Tories oust Labour, link us up (as said, not had chance to see it all yet).

The ground campaign was utterly massive.

But as shown, the tide was way too strong.

There was no agreement between the Conservatives and Farage, Farage just decided not to contest Conservative seats.

Karl Turner certainly owes the Brexit party a drink or two.

Fears that Brexit and Farage are tainted by corruption.. Their polls told them they didn't need Brexit party to win, so no deal was done.

Nothing to be baffled about. Labour and the Lib Dems ignored the referendum vote on the EU three years and more ago and last night paid the price. Alan Johnson chucked the towel in years ago and now earns a lot more money and a lot easier appearing on chat shows.
As for buying a house on Hessle foreshore or anywhere in Hull for that matter, still one of the cheapest places in the UK to buy a property. For the price of a four bed semi in Hull you might get a tiny bed sit in some ****ty suburb in London. Probably in a basement or a tacky flat roofed extension built into the roof space.

'Corbyn was a disaster on the doorstep... everyone knew he couldn't lead the working class out of a paper bag'. Alan Johnson says he wants the 'little cult' @PeoplesMomentum 'out of the party' and to 'go back to your student politics' #ITVElection2019

Alan Johnson gave Corbyn and Lansman a proper slating this morning...

‘I am afraid the working classes have always been a big disappointment for Jon and his cult. (Mr) Corbyn was a disaster on the doorstep.

‘Everyone knew that he couldn’t lead the working class out of a paper bag.’

‘Now Jon has developed this Momentum group, this party within a party, aiming to keep the purity, the culture of betrayal goes on. ‘You’ll hear it now more and more over the next couple of days as this little cult get their act together. I want them out of the party, I want Momentum gone, go back to your student politics.’

    He would say that.

The Labour Party have been reamed in this election. Why? Early indications are unsurprisingly Brexit related.

The right of the Labour Party (and the bulk of the PLP) were desperate for Labour to be the party of Remain. They hammered away at this day after day - you got the likes of 'grandees' like Campbell even voting LD in the Euros.

Who truly knows what would have happened if they were all out Remain. But looking at what has happened to a 'neutral/ Remain' Labour in this election, as well as the Lib Dems - despite Johnson being much less divisive, it doesn't look like it would have paid off either.

Don't get me wrong, I believe Farage wants Brexit and a No Deal too.

But the BXP are a company not a party. He heads the company. I know they would have to pay for campaigns, deposits etc, but they were also very well supported by donations and even charged members in Hull to watch their election announcement rally as well as charging each prospective candidate.

It has crossed my mind, but I have no evidence, that the BXP (company) could also be a big cash cow for Farage.

True. But in that example, as the Brexiteers know too well, the Germans got their European hegemony in the end.
