Disaster for Labour and Jeremy Corbyn must be blamed . I wonder if Boris Johnson can get out of Euro in January 2020

I do like Corbyn because he is a genuine guy with the right intentions, and a real passion to help people. He is actually a very goof MP.

but he’s simply no leader. Whether you agree to it or not, you have to be media savvy to be PM, and Corbyn didn’t have that. Comes across quite cold and bitter in tv interviews, constantly dancing around the anti semitism comments rather than addressing it and nipping it in the bud, failure to shout loud enough and expose Tory lies.

I hope Labour returns to the left centre, and find a better leader who knows how to play the game. Losing 3-4 elections / referendums is not good enough.

Putting Corbyn in as leader alongside McDonnell has turned out to be a catastrophic mistake for Labour. Easy to say in hindsight but their position on Brexit was incredibly naive and moving their and the party's political stance to a point where such a minority of people, even amongst their own hardcore supporters, could feel inclined to vote for them, was just stupid and again incredibly naive, or a combination of both. They got what they deserved through a wishy washy approach to what was the defining issue of this election and this age, Brexit, and fantastical, unachievably idealistic promises in many of their policies.

Yet, despite all the above, Diane Abbott still remains an MP

I think I'm on record on here saying that electing Corbyn as leader was a huge mistake when it was announced. He never had a snowball's chance of winning an election and it was obviously a disastrous pick.
Having said that, I'd rather have Coco The Clown than Boris Johnson. Boris is a proven, unprincipled liar who is only there to further his own career and has no interest in the majority of people whose lives his actions have a huge influence over. No social conscience and can't even put together a coherent sentence unless scripted.
How anyone can think this is the man to lead us into an uncertain future is utterly beyond me.

Its difficult to say what will go on now. All depends on boris's intentions.

In five years time, the conservatives wont have Corbyn, brexit or the economic collapse to blame for why they've been so ****ty. So it's just possible that they may have to do some good.

The result give boris some wiggle room to go with a closer relationship with europe than if it would have been tight. Depends if he wants to go that way really.

Must keep in mind that the last time labour where in this position Tony Blair wandered into labour and won the next election hands down.

Funny thing with politics just like football you wander in circles experiencing the highs and lows as you go.

Apart from Brexit, my work colleagues and family who voted tory genuinely believe the guff on one Nation toryism, taking us back to days of Macmillan, Butskellism and consensus politics. But modern tories have neo-liberalism ingrained in their DNA. Will we see .

Tony Blair won because he wasn't a real socialist and he knew how to talk the talk.
Regardless of rhetoric, too many people are afraid of socialism because they don't seem to understand it well enough. Anyone appearing to be too far to the left has no chance. That inherent fear, fuelled by the scare stories of the right-wing media, will always bring them down.
Personality wins over policy every time, unfortunately. Blair was the smart smooth-talker who could be persuasive on almost anything, and despite his lack of principle in things like foreign policy he had enough to carry people along for a considerable time. When he was replaced by the more principled but uncharismatic Gordon Brown the party's popularity waned.
It's a lesson they seemed not to learn.

Nobody ever learns. Each election is a popularity contest and nothing more, we may laugh at people who watch.im a celebrity or love island but at least nothing is at stake.

Socialism is to readily compared to communism and fascism. Most people dont have the time or inclination to actually delve deeper than what their facebook page of choice tells them.

I'm not sure on that, in the previous election he had a huge impact, I've never seen anything like it.

He was on stage at Glastonbury, people chanting his name, people really bought into his feeling of hope for the country.

Hes been battered the last two years though, every smear and dirty trick used against him and he just didnt have the same energy and the gloss had worn off.

Coupled with seemingly wanting to give everything away and nationalise everything just smacked of desperation and poorly being thought out.

People vote for their own self interest at the end of the day. The mass media message is that the Tories can be trusted with the economy while Labour will always trash it. In the polling station when putting the X on the ballot paper nobody wants to vote to make themselves and their family poorer.
