As far as I can discover, the origin of scrimmage is from the Middle English word 'skirmish', through the alteration 'scrimish', meaning 'to play another group of players in a scrimmage'.
A hros is a hros, of course, of course, unless of course, the hros of course, is the famous Mister ED. Doesn't have the same ring to it.
https://theathletic.com/2146802/202...le-challenge-wont-faze-him/?source=dailyemail Article in The Athletic about Jamal Lewis's travails last season following his move to Newcastle.
One interesting snippet was that Newcastle had previously looked at signing Giannoulis, but Bruce wanted someone with actual Premier League experience and they turned to Lewis. So instead of being signed by Newcastle, Giannoulis ended up replacing Lewis at Carrow Road! (Apparently Newcastle expected Jamal to go to Liverpool, but Liverpool wouldn't meet Webber's valuation and went for Giannoulis's fellow countryman, Tsimikas, instead.)
If Arsenal sign Maddison on a player plus cash deal, how is that likely to affect any sell on clause that we may have had in our deal to all him to Leicester. Do we only get a cut of the cash or is it on the overall value of the transfer?
Aston Villa have signed England striker Danny Ings from Southampton on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee. Ings, 28, is Villa's fourth signing of the summer after Leon Bailey, Emiliano Buendia and Ashley Young. He scored 46 goals in 100 appearances for Southampton after joining from Liverpool in 2018. "Danny is an outstanding Premier League footballer who has scored goals wherever he has played," said Villa boss Dean Smith. "He is also a top professional with a great character who will be a leader in our squad and a role model for our rapidly developing young academy players who are now in and around the first team
Sell on clauses are often complex; some are even time-limited. Any City pay-out from Maddison going to Arsenal is unlikely to be as simple as a percentage of either Leicester's "profit" or the overall value of the deal.
Maybe that illustrates that we have to take more risks in the transfer market by getting players who are unproven in the premiership as we can't afford ones that are proven.
To an extent, but most successful teams seem to maintain a balance in terms both of age and degree of "proveness". Our balance has improved but, Krul apart, IMO there's still a lack of proven top level experience. Just one player coming in and contributing that to the squad could make all the difference.
What would you do now if you were Messi and a free agent? He doesn't exactly need a "final pay day" somewhere.
