Just read an article from interview with Barca President Laporta in which it is revealed that they are £1.15billion in debt. How can anything even remotely close to this be allowed to happen? They have taken a bank loan of €550m at just 1.1% interest. Wow, wish I could get a loan at that rate.
Russ has had less than an auspicious start at Swansea. One point from first three games. Hope he pulls it round.
Scotland and Manchester United legend Denis Law has been diagnosed with dementia. Law, 81, who says he has Alzheimer's and vascular dementia, is the latest former player to reveal he is suffering from the degenerative brain disease. His former United team-mate Sir Bobby Charlton was diagnosed with the condition last year. "This will not be an easy journey especially for the people who love you the most," Law said. "I know the road ahead will be hard, demanding, painful and ever changing and so ask for understanding and patience. "I recognise how my brain is deteriorating and how my memory evades me when I don't want it to and how this causes me distress in situations that are beyond my control. "I do understand what is happening and that is why I want to address my situation now whilst I am able, because I know there will be days when I don't understand and I hate the thought of that right now." Sad news. A really all time great. My boyhood hero. Take care Denis

McDermott, who also had two spells as a player for Newcastle, says he is in the early stages of Lewy body dementia after undergoing hospital tests.

How much longer will Hooton be given? Rock bottom 1-0 down to local rivals Derby (who have a boat load of their own problems) looking like 0pts from 5. Bah!

The proposal to hold the World Cup every two years from 2028 is ludicrous. It means England will fail to get enough votes to stage the competition twice as often as now.
Nottingham Forest have sacked Chris Hughton after six defeats in their opening seven league games left the club bottom of the Championship with one point. Having already overseen Forest's worst start to a season in 108 years, Hughton's final game in charge was a 2-0 loss to Middlesbrough at the City Ground on Wednesday. A statement from the club said: "Nottingham Forest can confirm that Chris Hughton has been relieved of his duties as first-team manager. "The club would like to place on record its appreciation for Chris' efforts. Chris joined the club in a difficult period for everyone in football and around the world and we thank him for the way he has conducted himself during his tenure.
