Match Day Thread General matchday thread.

This site operated before the demise of BBC 606 as you know mostly Scottish and Northern English clubs. Spurs board started after BBC closed it's site at the same time as for example Chelsea & Arsenal sites. Initially these three sites were similar in turns of posters and comment rate. Overall Not606 was a far better place to chat than the BBC had been with it's aunties often spoiling decent debate because somebody had said ****. The double standards around swearing are pathetic in the view of many of us. Especially on a football site FFS. But it became apparent in this new found freedom that some posters used it to abuse other posters. When the 3 current Spurs Mods started we spoke together and established a simple code No personal abuse. After a while the wums stopped coming and our job as mods became easy. This slowly over the years attracted posters who enjoyed serious debate but retained their sense of humour. It might interest you to know that most of the banned posters were actually Spurs fans. The Spurs site is now at least twice the size of the Chelsea and Arsenal sites in terms of comments which suggests we have followed the right direction in modding.
We are only modding as long as our posters are happy for us to do it, we regularly ask the board if they are content for us to continue and so far the replies are positive. We do not ban banter just the personal insults. It seems that the users of the Spurs board are happy with the set up and surely it's a good solution of going to neutral sites if you want the kind of comments you get on this site but you are able to have more serious discussions, if you want, on your own clubs site. It doesn't stifle debate IMO it is the opposite effect and it's not just 2 or 3 posters it's all posters.

 

I have deleted a couple of posts by one poster but most of the debate I don't see as a problem.

The Arsenal defeat was a disaster for Chelsea

Win that and Liverpool are no threat to top 4 and they can stride confidently into 2 finals with nothing other than those 2 games to fully concentrate on

Having lost it they are genuinely in a scrap for top 4 and the pre Arsenal confidence has evaporated
They looked like a Lampard side at the end of his reign yesterday

5th and losing 2 cup finals is now very much a possibility

In the sense that any cluster of nerves can be deemed an interacting brain - then yeah, maybe. Not exactly the hub of consciousness though in a very clever animal.
