Although she didn't say it, I can't see anyone asking a male player the question in that manner. He spoke to her like she was fifteen and he was her headmaster. It was a simple case of her being off her best and her opponent playing very well (especially the latter)...on another day the result might have been different. And we all forget...a GB player or athlete in a major event like Wimbledon is playing for themselves, not for their country. Some elements of the media (and public) respond to a result like this as if the athlete was a soldier who ran away in the face of the enemy.
I saw the bit where the journalist started his line of questioning. She was quite patient with him, and then he definitely started to get patronising. I thought she dealt with his manner quite well. Effectively telling him where to get off.
She did handle him well...nice and calm. Better than I would...I always get a bit emotional when upset...not the way to get people to take notice of what you say.
Serena through to another final. So its her power v the more artistic Halep. Should be a good contrast. If Halep gets Serena moving, Halep will win. Talking of Serena, I feel Andy Murray has had a positive effect on her performance at Wimbledon this year.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/48947273 England women beat France in rugby super series in Canada. Having already beaten USA and Canada, they have a 3 point lead going into the final game against NZ on Sunday. If England beat NZ they will be officially the best team in the world. Don't claim to have seen much of it as it is on rather late, but good to see English sport doing so well.
I wonder what Ocon is thinking. I mean, not that he could go their easily being part of the Merc stable, but still. Surely they’re thinking of shifting Kubica at Williams. Stick Ocon in there for the rest of the season. Mercs look scary again so far. Ferrari and RBR very close.
Great tennis already. Federer really is the greatest Swiss sportsman since Marc Surer. Or possibly Stephane Henchoz.
Eating humble pie here as the Wimbledon seeding committee got the seedings for the men´s singles spot on!!!!! Well done Federer. You could say the match against Nadal was the "people´s" final as it is the match up everyone wants to see. It Will be interesting to see the match on Sunday. The popular support will be with Federer, what Djokovic has done to be about as popular as Krygios, I do not know. Good luck to both and may the match be a great one.
In the Netball World Cup, England beat Uganda 64-32 and meet Scotland (who also won) on Saturday. Although I have played netball, I have never been interested in either it or basketball because the high scores seemed ridiculous, but (like many) I enjoyed the excitement of our two late wins which secured us the Commonwealth title...beating the Aussies must always be an aim in life This may explain the fact that they have sold 100K tickets for the tournament on home soil....everyone loves a party.
https://www.skysports.com/tennis/ne...ut-returning-to-singles-action-at-the-us-open Andy Murray admits it will be some time before he is fit enough to play 5 set singles matches. He doesn't want set backs and further operations...sensible guy.
I’m not here tomorrow and was going to miss out on my red arrows fly by... they’ve just done a practise run this morning for me. Thanks lads.
Bottas takes a great pole from Hamilton. Charles in third having destroyed Vettel, but starting on softs, unnecessarily, which makes zero sense.
