It’s certainly an interesting one. I get the importance of a united gesture, but also totally get what Max and Charles are saying.

Problem is, much like what happened with Extinction Rebellion, the initial idea/movement is good, but then the ‘organisation’ gets taken over by extreme elements, and they rapidly lose support. I think Lewis needs to recognise this (F1 seems to be distancing itself from BLM and now has its own message).

Could be a cracking race the way the grid is lined up.

Bottas isn't dropping Verstappen to the extent you might expect given the difference in rubber and the fight the Red Bulls had on the first lap.

Well, that's about that for anything interesting in this race, unfortunately.

I fully support anti-racism campaigns. Racism is terrible and is just not necessary. I had a lot of empathy for BLM although I have recently read the message on their fundraising page they use and now find myself in a position where my empathy has dwindled. I can’t agree with what they declare they want to achieve and I feel they have a mixed message.

This'll be my only comment on it, but people keep suggesting that BLM has rapidly lost support, and nothing could be further from the truth. It enjoys far more public support in the US today than it did a month ago, and far more a month ago than it did last year.

I think the concept is entirely correct. It’s just going to be interesting to look at what happens as it ‘develops’ as an organisation.

it's been a movement for six years (it isn't really an organization in the strict sense). Both its impact and reception have been broadly positive, to the extent that approximately 5-10% of the American population has participated in protests over the past six weeks.

I must admit to not knowing all the ins and outs. The BLM UK movement has some stated aims that are probably not going to help the cause an awful lot. I don’t know if that’s a coordinated thing with the US movement. (And I guess not for the sports thread!)

Loose tyre is a wee bit dangerous. Glad that came to nothing more than a safety car.
