Verstappen's still odds-on to win, I think. The tide has turned mostly because Verstappen has gotten punted in back-to-back races; that's given Hamilton a chance, but the Red Bull has generally been the faster car.
Mercedes were faster this weekend. I think in a normal dry race Hamilton would have cruised it today.
As said by someone on the F1 forum . Bit disrespectful of Ocon celebrating when Max has an injured car.
Agreed, I just think a bit of Verstappen's inexperience has started to show and the pressure is getting to him a bit. Either way, it's great to have a proper title race.
Stroll also has a five place penalty. The twat. Bit disappointed in Sainz today. Delighted for Ocon, but I really think Carlos could and should have capitalised on the chaos more.
He really hasn't done anything wrong to get collected, though. Hamilton went hyper-aggressive and took him out in the previous race, and there wasn't anything he could do to avoid the chain reaction Bottas touched off here. It's good to have a real title race, but it's unfortunate that the title race has been created in large part because people keep running into the leader, heh.
I think he could (and should) have backed out of the Silverstone one. As you say he's had the better car so he shouldn't need to fight every single corner and should be playing the long game. That was a racing incident for me and one he could have easily avoided. That incident changed the mood imo and the pressure will only mount from here. Looking forward to Spa!
Bottas was responsible today , the chain reaction was just luck . Good or bad. British gp was a racing incident. Keep running into the leader ? Do me a favour
He shouldn't be expected to back out of the corner at Silverstone...he was ahead and on the racing line, and Hamilton completely overcooked it and was understeering. Hamilton got enormously lucky there, because by rights that should have ended his race, as well.
