Vikings off season just keeps looking stranger and stranger, Shelley now signed for the Raiders for **** all
Hmmm, rumours I'm reading are they're making more cap space. It wouldn't surprise me if they're making a run at Jackson. I agree at the moment it doesn't make much sense though.
There is no chance they go for Jackson with Cousins on the roster, let alone what they would have to give up for him. Whichever GM goes for Jackson is basically guaranteeing their P45 They’ve kicked more money down the road to keep some of the players who have been average at best/getting old. It was looking very promising at the start of free agency and looked like they realised they needed to blow it all up for the future, but they gone back to the “competitive rebuild”default they always do and ****ed themselves over. Still think Cook and Z Smith will be gone, you don’t give Mattison that kind of money and sign Davenport to that big a one year deal to not move them on I see a lot of the top mock guys have them taking a QB in the first round as well, would be another massive head scratcher. They’ve hardly got any defensive players on the roster, and whilst Flores is highly regarded as a DC he can’t work with nothing. Only slight logic I can see is they are going to go very defence heavy in the draft, but with only 5 picks and other holes as well just looks like a huge cluster **** so far.
I think Vikes have to either trade up for a top QB in the draft or trade Cousins. I do think there's a big move of some sort coming. Just a gut feeling. There's simply no purpose to simply tread water. As the tank option seems to be off the table I've just got a hunch they will make a big move in the QB market.
They can’t trade Cousins unless he revokes his no trade clause, they are stuck with him for another year minimum. The benefit of taking a QB this draft is whoever that is can be backup to Cousins and spend a year learning. The downside is everything else. With only 2 picks in the top 100 and so many holes on the team spending your highest pick on a back up player just seems completely stupid to me, especially if you go with the theory that this is Cousins last year, next year you are likely going to have a higher pick than 23, and more draft capital to trade. Sure it means the rookie they take next year will have to be thrown straight in, but if you like the player this shouldn’t be seen as an issue
Vikes do have holes but it's worth bearing in mind Vikings will have more cap space next off season. They'll have dead cap money from contract re-structures but Cousins' salary will be off the books (unless we stupidly decide to extend him). Hunter will probably go, Cook and Smith will likely have already gone. Also if you draft a QB you have them on a rookie deal for a few years which can save you an awful lot of cap space.
Yeah next year they will have more, but I’m not a cap expert and from what I’ve read it sounds like they have kicked a fair bit down the road. The rookie thing still applies next year btw. They should’ve just started a full rebuild this year, drafted best player available, then go from there. The Bengals proved what you can do in a short space of time with high picks and good FA signings
Good news for woman's athletics. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/65051900 Slowly but surely this farce is being seen for what it is.
