so what do people think about this potential signing?

remember him being class at Derby. pretty good at Watford too but absolute cack at Spurs (although lots of reasons for that...namely the guy is a long ball option rather than some technical trickster)

scored a screamer at SE7 also if i remember.

i think he might be a good target man option, but wouldnt want him being paid more than 2-3K a week. also didnt score a single goal last season

any reports on the Den Bosch game?

Doesn't fill me with glee...however, depends how he will be used. We probably lack a real 'target man' up front. Someone who's going to bash a few centre backs and make a nuisance of himself. Is he the best available though?

    morning morning

yeh i was left so so by the prospect. but then again - why? his age shouldnt matter too much as he was never mobile

if he is committed and fit, could be worth a punt. he is a clinical finisher

Really Calydon...? Below is an overview of his time in Cyprus, taken from Wiki:

AEL Limassol F.C... He signed his contract with one of the top teams in Cyprus, AEL, after leaving Reading. He appeared in many matches of the Cypriot team but has found it hard to score a goal. He showed the country he has the ability but he always ended up unlucky, he has been given many chances but he does not seem ready to score the 'easy goal' that his team wanted him to do.

Deffo better playrs of his ilk out there...

Imo we deffo need a plan B in terms of attacking options...

If he could rediscover the form he showed at Derby or Southampton he could be a decent option for us. We shall wait and see…

He divided the fans while he was with us (Southampton)

Some said he was lazy and uninterested (which outwardly he did appear)

But, he still knocked in a fair amount of goals for us (which is what a striker is measured on)

Good luck for the season and I hope you get promoted, Charlton is one of my favourite away days!! :emoticon-0148-yes:

As a seemingly 4th choice striker, why not? Has a decent enough record in this country, his last spell at Reading was pretty good. I'm not bothered about Cyprus, sometimes certain players don't work in certain leagues- thats football.

I trust CP to make the right decision on this.

Yep, trust CP too. Having seen his signings last night they all look first and foremost like 'footballers'. Comfortable on the ball, go searching for it and put in a shift. If he thinks this guy can add something to us then go for it.

The thing to remember is we are playing in league one, we are comparing his prem and champ days. He could be very useful at this level

A bit of a double-edged sword this one.

On one hand, he has obviously got talent because so many clubs have signed him up.

But the fact that he has signed for so many clubs leads me to believe he carries a few problems around.

Perhaps a six month deal could be the way to go with this one.
