Guess the testing ranking.

I don't significantly disagree with this so being tired and feeling lazy I thought I would just reply saying what I just said! I would perhaps move Williams up 2 places (Merc engine), also think Alfa Romeo should go up 2 places. But we will all be surprised by reality.

 

You'd think they'd be pretty close to Haas considering they'll both be racing 2018 Ferrari's with a '19 engine and front wing, quite possibly ahead of them when you factor in Fiat.

Slightly concerning, but if it means they'll be ready for the first test then fair enough. If they don't make the first day of testing, then it gets concerning!

Both Williams and Renault in a tight schedule to be ready for Barcelona day 1. With such limited testing time these days it’s a concern for both.

Hopefully it’s literally just production time that’s the issue and that they do have finalised specs that work when they hit the track. We will soon see.

 

If I think about Williams, if wind tunnel tests revealed opportunities to improve (note the positive) then why wouldn't you push the envelope to make some changes early to get the best results. I am sure they will be out there testing on Monday. Same would apply to Renault. If you were prepared to settle for second best I am sure they would have been ready for the launch. I am wishing them well and hope they recover their form this year. Also hope Robert Kubica silences his critics. It is amazing he has come this far.

 

I believe Renault had a shakedown on Friday so must be ready?

Renault appear to have got there on time and completed a 27 lap shakedown.

 

Seems Williams won't be ready till Tuesday. Fingers crossed the delay has been worthwhile for them.

First time in a while that I'm optimistic for a season. There's a couple of things going on that could mix things up a little. Some reg changes that MIGHT aid racing a bit, Leclerc in a Ferrari, Ricciardo in a potentially decent Renault, maybe a new dawn for Macca.... Here's hoping folks!

 

And a new dawn for Williams ?

Very early days but Vettel dipping to 19.1 is pretty eye-catching on the mediums!

We won’t fully know where that sits in context until later in the week or even the second test.


EDIT: 18.4 - 2 seconds clear of anyone else this morning.

Lap counts so far are good for Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren and Renault.

Bottas circulating steadily without lighting up any time sheets- the typical heavy fuel Merc running to begin with!

 

And so it begins......

its back... that is all.

 

I reckon the Williams won't even break into the 1m30s today.

 

Nor tomorrow .
