Football is sheer arrogance it doesn’t work like that in the PL are you them kind of fans who want to just brag about the style of football regardless of results? Surely if that’s the case then it’s no biggie wether you are in the PL or not and relegation might be the best option for your happiness? @Libby to confirm
Was going to say the same to you, spurs can win fook all just as well in the championship, as they can in the prem. Don't suppose you can brag about playing boring football and winning fook all.
Being a Spurs fan I suppose you've forgotten that football is about winning. Supporting a team that promises nothing and spectacularly delivers on this season after season must have caused you to forget this simple truth?
I was living in Townsville when the Cowboys started up. The local paper was full of wonderous stories about how well they were doing, big crowds, selling lots of merchandise etc. Winning games? Well, no, not exactly, in fact winning f*ck all. The only times they got big crowds was when they pla yed teams like the Broncos, Raiders ot Eastern Suburbs. When they played Souths (in those days the easybeats of the comp) no-one came.
Thank **** my dad brought me up to be a leeds fan and not Spuds thats all i have to say on the subject.
Seem to remember Spurs best results in the league under Pochetino were the best since Greavsey was playing. champions League was a yid army dream Pochetino gave the fans. Now you’ll be lucky to get top 6 under Portugal's George Graham
Problem with the Mourinho, Dyche and Allardyce way of playing is that everything is rosy if you are winning games. If you're losing games then its ****ing grim. In a perfect world you'd play great football and win games. Imagine being a Burnley fan over the last 10 years or so watching that ****e. The club will tell you it's one of their most successful periods. The fans I know yearn for them to drop down so they can at least see their team have a go at teams rather than just surviving against them. I actually agree with @Irishshako that league one was a breath of fresh air funnily enough. Had a right laugh down there. PL is vastly overrated as it becomes less like sport and more like business. I'm enjoying this season and naturally want us to do well as the finances from being in this league will naturally improve the club infrastructure. There does seem to be this fear of relegation or failure from fans in this league. Suppose when you nearly lose your club completely you just get back to the joy of watching your team compete be it against Liverpool, Man City or Macclesfield or Yeovil.
It's interesting that you think our style of football is gung ho. What we as Leeds fans have been witnessing for the last 2+ seasons under Bielsa is something quite different. From a mid table going nowhere team we were transformed over the course of one pre season into a side that could impose our style and dictate how matches were played. It's not about possession as such but more shape and positioning all over the pitch. After making the pitch large we use our patterns of play to seek to exploit an advantage. The fact that we're extremely well drilled in those patterns makes us the exact opposite of being gung ho in fact. What our footballing philosophy is actually about is control and this is proven by us winning virtually every game where we score first since Bielsa took over. Of course now we're in a higher league and having to adjust and improve our squad. What we absolutely shouldn't do though is discard all that we have learn't and become just because we lost a couple of matches
League one was surprisingly enjoyable. Easy to get tickets home or away. Just the hardcore support left which equals a better atmosphere and more of a laugh! When we got back in the Championship and started having a little bit of success then the tickets became hard to get hold of and now we have waiting lists! Far easier when it was Cheltenham at home!
Spot on Emu. We never had any trouble getting a max of 9 tickets when we were travelling over from Dublin. But like you say a bit of success and they started creeping out. Hopefully the club will increase capacity eventually. Do you remember years ago there was talk of selling ER and building a brand new stadium near a sewage plant(I think) I'm sure the capacity was going to be smaller.
