Chris Sutton ...yes, I know I can stop here, but I may as well commit... ...has questioned the mentality of Max Aarons, Ben Godfrey and Jamal Lewis because we've been linked with them they were relegated with Norwich. I'm sure he's saying the exact same thing about Nathan Ake after The Sheikh Mansour Team paid £40m for him in spite Bournemouth's relegation
Sky Sports are showing such a commitment to journalism that they;re still listing Alfie Devine as a player we have been linked with, as opposed to somebody who we have actually signed Gee, I wonder why James Murdoch had enough of working there...
Private Eye ran a piece accusing the club of charging Haringey Council £33,280 for using the stadium car park as a food bank during the Covid crisis which has definitely finished so we can go back to shouting about migrants and act like the Scottish exam results SNAFU is in any way a headline story There's one teeny, tiny flaw with this story, though: it's simply not true, as both Haringey Council and the club have confirmed to Matt Law of the Torygraph that the council requested additional security for doing so and offered to pay the difference, which amounted to £1680 per week for additional security and £880 per week for the additional cleaning - which were not paid to the club but to the third party contractors Of course, the facts haven't got in the way of the usual bullshit, for example...
Whenever I see such compilations, about 90% of them are outside the box belters, and the rest are not. Which IMHO is tedious. I would rather be given a list of 5 by category, such as : - belters - free-kicks - solo runs - precise set of passes leading to the goal - dinky strikes (overheads, back-heels, chips etc) - fancy footwork in the box and then choose the best from each, and then the overall winner from those best.
You would get five, but one would stand out miles above the rest. When presented with N belters, IMHO there is little to separate them by (distance ?? power ?? ) .
I don’t think the long distance screamers should ever be considered for goal of the season, any professional footballer is capable of scoring one and tbh most of us mere mortals have probably scored one down the park with mates. Goals like Son’s can only be scored by players with amazing ability
Disagree personally. Gascoigne's semi final free kick Hoddle's volley v Forest in 79/80 Hoddle's volley v Man Utd 79/80 Wanyama at Anfield 2018 Kane v Burnley 2019 Bale v West Ham 2013 Bale v Southampton 2013 Bale free kick in Uefa Cup 2013 Dier v Watford 2017 Edmund goal at Anfield 2006 ish Hoddle goal at Anfield 1982 ish Just some off the top of my head that are a thing of beauty to watch
But on the other hand Andros Townsend scored a couple of screamers for us that got him in the England team and if my memory served me right he scored one for England but from then on he insists on having a go every time most go on to take out a punter in row Z , his most recent success was the worldie against Citeh , I think what I'm getting at is some players are hit and hope where as others are skill, hope this makes sense but I've not slept for 3 nights due to the heat and helping our daughter out with a very grouchy 5 day old grand child
Free kicks take skill and I don’t include them in the hit and hope. I do love a good volley too but I mean more the type that are half cleared from the area and a defensive player unleashes a shot which somehow goes top corner. As good as they are I don’t think they can be compared to goals like Sons or even an amazing team goal
You can tell you definitely hate Rose to not have his vs Arsenal included A goal that massively goes under the radar in my opinion yet was a thing of beauty due to the technique was Son's volley vs Swansea a few years ago in the 5-0 win. Ball got deflected into his path and with less than a second to react he done a sort of half scissor kick volley that rifled past the keeper.
I thought you had have gone for one of Eriksens v Chelsea - The one in 3-1 win at the bridge was a hell of strike, then again the one the season before was pretty special too
