Harry Dunn is the young lad killed earlier this year when American Anne Sacoolas, driving on the wrong side of the road, crashed into his motorbike, killing him. After being interviewed by the polis, she claimed diplomatic immunity and slipped out of the country. The CPS have now charged her, in her absence, with causing death by dangerous driving. We've all seen this story on the TV and in the papers, a woman who says she is 'devastated' but will not return to the UK for fear of being imprisoned. That's some example to show to every human on this earth...one rule for one and one rule for another. Let's hope this woman shows some decency and comes back voluntarily or is made to. What a moron.
Think the US will have to come out and waive diplomatic immunity and then UK apply for her extradition. She actually slipped out of the country while under investigation so is unlikely to come back of her own accord. While it's a pretty ****ty thing to do this happens the world over. Most expats involved in car crashes etc that cause fatalities here are unofficially advised by their companies to drive straight to the airport and get on the next flight out.
I think if she comes back voluntarily...and tells it how it happened...and we could all do what she did to be fair (wrong side of the road)...she will be probably be treated more leniently than if and when she is finally extradited. I do think this will be the basis of the talks between the CPS and the Americans, come back voluntarily, get a non-custodial or lighter sentence.
By which logic we should repeal the dangerous driving laws. If it was a mistake, even a pretty careless mistake, then she will not be convicted.
If the UK requests extradition and makes a fuss about it, I will very reluctantly have to accord Boris Johnston an iota of respect. Of course, it hasn't happened yet.
Seriously, wow, just wow! I take you do not have children? If someone did this to my child I would do something very stupid!
Seriously? A mistake is going out without your phone or wallet, or forgetting to turn the gas on to heat your soup up. Driving on the wrong side of the road is not a mistake in any way shape or form. Its plain ****ing dumb and inexcusable for anyone of sound might and body. She needs dragging back to this country and quite rightly punished. How the **** she can live with herself is beyond me.
I can't blame someone for panicking and running home. If I ran someone down in Norway it would be my first thought. But common sense must prevail, come back and face punishment. The government should bring her back If nothing more than to show everyone you cannot just run people down in other countries and get away with it.
Shes american and they drive on the right, so its a mistake unles she thought .... hmmmm i think ill deliberately drive on the wrong side.... im sure she is feeling bad enough without the witch hunters baying for blood.
Bollocks man, she's 42 for ****s sake and I'm pretty sure this wont be her first time driving in the uk. As for your speeding comment...I'm not really sure it makes a difference. Maybe she was pissed and that's why she was on the wrong side of the road I suppose that would be acceptable to you would it?
Age matters not one bit? It matters because if she wasnt speeding it was a mistake... people make them ... Americans drive on the right ...
