Has Wenger lost the plot and should he go?

Discussion in 'The Premier League' started by Hoddle is a god, Jan 4, 2017.

  1. "It was a mental test, but we succeeded."
(Wenger, after Arsenal drew 3-3 with Bournemouth)

In Wenger's eyes, Arsenal falling further behind in the title race and embarrassing themselves against a team that, in former years, he would have expected to trounce, is a success.

We all know that Wenger has suffered from selective-blindness throughout his entire career. God alone only knows the number of off-sides, swan-dives, and handballs he's failed to see, even when they have happened right in front of him!

But does he truly believe that, last night against Bournemouth, Arsenal succeeded?

If he does - and I think he does - how can a man with such a view on things possibly be expected to win the title? Surely, it is time for Wenger to be sacked?

Your views, please, lads. And definitely no wumming for this one.

You lack originality and are tedious Walter. If you were a rock group you'd be Status Quo.

Given your track record of wum **** ups Walter, you've probably now jinxed Spuds into a hideous dry humping at the Lane tonight

The opinion will always be divided with the Gooners, some think he 'deserves' to stay as long as he want's due to him having some success.

Others (the sensible ones) want rid. The man should be wearing a mask the amount of robbing he's doing.

I think he's planning on doing a 'Fergie' - Passing a **** squad on to a manger that will ultimately fail. Giving Wenger cult status, then taking 4 years to have anything that even resembles a good team.

No bias here, I hope he stays.

Fergie didn't leave a **** squad. It was an overachieving squad but it wasn't ****. The two managers who followed him were **** though.

Showed how good Fergie was. The squad was pretty **** mate, Fergie was the master.

Choosing Moye's was also a master stroke, for Fergie's reputation.

Winning the league with that squad was a hell of an achievement but it was still a top 4 squad the following season. Moyes was just a **** manager and then LVG's transfer "strategy" created chaos.

I think Fergie left with no real midfield in place. He did extremely well to win the title with that squad.

He's gone now so I can openly admit he was an incredible manager.

They have only fallen further behind in the Title race if we lose tonight. Don't know about you, but I'm not ready to concede just yet. That said, they need to be eating into the Chelsea lead and they have failed that by producing a very lack lustre performance (by all accounts) for 70 minutes. Curious why this would be, you'd think they would be fired up for all games now.

  16. This is lifted from an article appearing in the Evening Standard.

It is witheringly scathing in its attack. And rightly so, in my view.

It was very, very **** on paper. But as we proved last season it doesn't matter how it looks on a piece of paper, so long as you finish above the even ****ter teams.

It really wasn't that ****, you're giving Moyes too much credit! We won our opening game 4-1 away to Swansea and played well. Gradually we turned to utter **** as Moyes's methods were drilled into the team. Evra looked done after half a season under Moyes. He went on to win 2 titles with Juve and still plays for France! Central midfield was a problem though.

If Wenger decided to leave now, he will have seen off 12 failed Spud managers, none of whom have managed to finish above him and he will be able to look back knowing that he won 3 titles, 6 FA cups including 2 doubles as he watched those chumps from N17 sacking manager after manager and achieving **** all <ok>
