He got lucky with that cross, Keogh didn't need to move to intercept it! All his crosses are meant for somebody but how many times do they make their destination? If you judge him on what he meant to do with his passes, crosses and shots then he would be a Rs legend but he has come up short on too many occasions and not matched expectations.
Well...yes, we can be thankful for Junior's inaccuracy, Keogh's inexplicable act and OBZ's sublime finishing
I cannot believe some fans, really How many times does a pass/cross/miss kick end in a team winning something? How many times do players like Messi scuff a shot that goes in? Really, i cannot believe how anyone can knock Hoiletts contribution in the semi and final. We really need to get real as fans.
He played well in the semi- a very, very rare occurrence in his first 3.5 years at the club. I don't remember him having a good game in the final at all. Messi will scuff one in occasionally but if he scuffed it every time he wouldn't be at Barcelona. It's all a bit pointless anyway as he'll get an offer from a lower PL club probably who will be willing to take a punt on him for a wage we can't offer any longer. There's no point trying to re-write history because he's shown occasional flashes of competence in four years of mediocrity, at a cost of circa £8m in wages.
If Hoilett wants to play for us and blend in with the wage structure we have in place, then I would want him in our squad for next season. If he is looking for more money with Swansea ( or whom ever), then he can seek misery elsewhere.
Hoiletts apparent failures are nor just his, a player plays better with other good players, if you're surrounded by crap you produce crap.
Hoilett is currently playing the best football of his Rangers career. If we get rid now he's been nearly a total waste of cash, bar the odd moment. Keep him if possible and he can continue to pay back his big wages by playing well - as he is currently.
I'm as real a fan I I could be but to hail hoiletts misplaced cross as a highlight of his time at the Rs is clutching at straws, I would hail the tackle to win the ball before the cross.
You have to ask why he's suddenly playing well though, is it really just coincidence that his contract is up? To me he's either trying to con a new contract out of us or putting himself in the shop window. Hope I'm wrong and he genuinely has a new lease of life but I don't really buy it.
I won't be sorry to see the whole shebang gone, players, manager, DOF, coaches and their drivers, teas and their ladies, balls and their boys, and the owner. Good riddance.
