How will we line up next season?

I've been away from this forum for a while. Came back to see HIAG has been banned (or left) and to see we've signed Martinelli, Ceballos, Saliba and Pepe. How do you think we will line up next season?

Would playing Ceballos, Ozil and Torreira in the same midfield work? What happens to Xhaka? Can we afford to play Auba, Laca and Pepe up front together at the same time?

Assuming Koscielny is leaving (don't see any way back for him) and Monaco are in for Mustafi (hopefully) that means we need another CB. Just don't see who's out there at the moment. Heard rumors of Khedira and Rugani.

What are your thoughts?

That's when everyone is fit. I left celabos out because I haven't seen him play to judge.how ever I'm a massive fan of amn and I hope he finnaly gets his place in midfield or even as a winger

I’d be inclined to agree and say those two are the best line ups we could go with depending on the game and whether we are being more offensive or defensive. But Xhaka is one of Emery’s captains and I feel he will get a lot of game time.

 

Holding played a game for the u23's a few days ago so I would think he's only a few weeks away from returning to first team action.

I think against Newcastle the back four will be...

They need to just bring in some experience/quality until Saliba joins next Season. I think Cahill makes ALOT of sense at this point.

I just hope we dont drop points in the opening matches because the back line still hasnt been sorted. Also Emery has stated that Pepe and Lacazette wont be ready to start against Newcastle so our squad is not looking in the shape you would hope it to be in.

Yeah, looks unlikely now that they'll both start. Emery said he hopes both will feature at some point though.

But for Newcastle for example Pep and Laca are injured so he could play on the wing. The Good thing about Coutinho is he can play either wing or as a No.10.

When you think Auba can play up front or either wing. Ozil can play No.10 or on the left we would have a variation for most injury/fitness scenarios.

At first I thought it was a weird signing but now I can actually see how it could be a masterstroke.


In all honesty I think if we sign Upamecano & Coutinho we will make a serious run at the league. Top four without a doubt IMO.

Look at this squad.... Adding Saliba next Season as well.

I still think the Coutinho signing is unlikley to happen though.

 

No way we're buying Coutinho and Upamecano. I think Rugani on loan is where we're at right now, and it makes sense.

 

Apparently we've just had a £65m bid rejected for Upamecano. But not sure if that's just media hype or not. I think he'd be a great signing. At 20 years old, he and Saliba next season could form a CB pairing for the next decade together.

But yeah it looks more likely we'll get Rugani on loan.

 

Leipzig want 100m for Upamecano so I think it rules it out. But twitter is abuzz with sources now saying that Coutinho to Arsenal is a done deal? Don't get it.

 

Can't see that one happening either tbh. We don't really need him and apparently the loan fee alone is £27m !

 

Tierney could be back on as well. Watch this space.

 

I think we do need him he's an upgrade on ozil and mhiki, and a player of his quality 27 mill for 2 seasons is worth it imo.

We need to do what ever we can to get back into the champions league the longer we are out the harder it will be to get back in

 

I agree - plus if we dont sign he may end up at Spurs. (He's an upgrade on Eriksen IMO)
