The Giraffes, Saurus, dancing grannies, tightrope and the hoola hoop comedy about Brexit were all really good and the type of things which have made Freedom Festival an exciting and intriguing event over the years, but this year seemed very much like 1 person had selected a few of their own personal favourite things and ran with it. It all seemed very heavy on contemporary dance.

I think there needs to be a formula to success for Freedom - work out what people enjoyed most of over previous years. I get the reason for not focussing on music, purely because it's deemed popular, but previous headliners like Foals, Florence & The Machine and The 1975 are hardly the corporate mainstream, and definitely weren't at the time of performing at Freedom - it was quite nice knowing a left-field music act from the festival would go on to headline huge established music festivals in the future.

Extortionate rates are currently killing Whitefriargate, there are units down there where the rates are actually more than the rent (its demise was originally caused by high rents, particularly on Trinity House properties, but they've subsequently dropped).

I forgot to mention we also went in Hull Minster and saw the last day of the Fisherman's Mission exhibition. Much like FG Rico has forgotten to provide an answer to my question!

Is a festival supposed to be cultural? I don't know, but it seemed the Freedom Festival has changed the last couple of years maybe to appeal to a more sophisticated person rather than a pleb like me, anyway I thought the bit I saw was ****e.

Fred Pontin next year! ;-) The festival may have changed, but I'm in no doubt there's still something for everyone.

I've enjoyed all of them apart from last 2.
It's seems that the council now would rather see boat loads of food and beer stalls.
    If it's £1200 a pop no wonder.
I know Minerva takings where considerably less than last year's.
People where heading over there , seeing nothing was there and coming away .
Everybody I spoke to left pier area quite quickly.

My Grand daughter performed at the New Theatre on Saturday night, also in Trinity square in the afternoon. She has an amazing day.

Skidby windmill that's in East Yorks not Hull.

That windmill must be the Cornmill on Holderness Rd. did it ever get finished and is it still there?
