16,000 clay bricks individually sculpted by Hull's nursery children. A great way to get the youngsters involved in #Hull2017. #HullCentral

The one on the left is interesting. It seems to show a Christmas tree floating upside down in the sea pointing down at a joiners bench plane on the sea bed?
    Spooky.

    Agreed.
What's the point? What's the relevance? And why the hell **** up the great space, including those impressive water slabs (I do really like them), when it's only just been created.

Also, went to Ferens. Great that it helps put Hull further in the spotlight. But WTF.
Particularly bewildered by the film one (Gaza - didn't even bother with the other one). Exactly what is special about that 20 min film that makes it a Turner prize nominee? There are thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of much better, more interesting films of there or similar places in the World. How amazing original inserting a handful of short comic type sequences into the film. Utter genius.

Can someone please explain to the obviously uncultured.

On the other hand, the vision for the front of the BHS building looks stunning. Hopefully it happens. And impressed with Mally Welburns land trains.

Went to the History Centre again today and another exhibition in the foyer, this one about slavery and its Hull connection, there are other things covered besides slavery, women in WW2 for instance. But there is a section on black football players (or should I say ethnic to be more pc) which is quite interesting, also covered for the rugby people is Clive Sullivan and other coloured players. Boxing is also covered so a wide spread of subjects with the common theme of them being black. As I have found with these History Centre exhibits they draw you in to the subject of what they cover, the black & white pictures of Hessle Road has been my favourite up to now but even the events of Hull and Charles 1st was covered very well.

There's summat weird going on behind those eyes, Ern. A bit like the Maelstrom in Journey to the Centre of the Earth, or that pit in Lord of the Rings, where the Ring goes in the end (I think).

It's more funny than not funny. That strip always has those three characters bitching about some art fad or other. It's not getting at Hull at all. The whole point of the strip is THEM.

They've placed it upside down, some little kid roaring his eyes out, traumatised and inconsolable. The nasty bastards.

Sorry but it has to be said. That's damn right racist. Where's the white players exhibition? And why keep differentiating; surely there comes a point where it should stop otherwise it's sort of defeating the supposed objective?

On the list for my next cultural visit.

It's Black History Month, so I wouldn't count this is at all racist.
