Right dennisbt...do you remember the "best in the world's" set list ? I'm an expert, and collect them. No editorial feedback from me (other than positive naturally), but I'm interested. Fools rush in !
Watched an interesting documentary pgm ( part of a series) this afternoon (pgm called "Restoration Home" on BBC 2) which saw the redevelopment of a property on Coltman St in Hull. First broadcast in 2013. Fabulous reno of (apparently) Christopher Pickering's first home in his rise to fame & fortune. Fascinating for me (my old grammar school was on Pickering Rd, my best friend still living in England still lives at the junction of Pickering Rd and Hull Rd, and the first grope (legit) I ever had with a nubile young lady was in Pickering Park ( we were both participating in the annual school marathon through Pickering Park, somehow managing to take a diversion from the official route). Oh aye, must add I spent a lot of time in the pub @ Fiveways (Pickering Rd and Boothferry Rd) in my indolent early youth. Anyway, slightly off topic, but the episode on BBC2 is well worth entering into the City of Culture annals. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b038ncgp/restoration-home-series-3-6-coltman-street
I concur, hats off to council/planners for turning such a seedy run down area into such a pleasant place.
If it was renovated in 2013 it's probably reverted to a complete tip by now. Were you at Kingston High School then?
Crikey That’s a test I have consulted with my better, and sober(!), half, but still not 100% Definitely started with See See Rider and did Polk Salad Annie, Suspicious Minds, American Trilogy, Bridge over troubled water, Burning love, Always on my mind. Fer Ark will have to fill in the blanks *just googled in case someone had stuck it up somewhere and noticed, astonishly to me, there is a whole website with some of his set lists on! Although you probably knew that https://www.setlist.fm/setlists/shawn-klush-7bdb029c.html
Pretty sure he sang wonder of you, Mr C’s favourite. Memory’s a little hazy, probably down to the shipyard!
That would be a crying shame - whoever it was (Simon somebody) put a lot of money & effort into sowing the seed of regeneration of an (apparently) declining neighbourhood . He got some support from the City council too. Yep - Kingston HS was my alma mater. Great years. ('57-'64).
A sticky wicket ? There was a lad expelled for such an indiscretion in my time there. To be fair, I think he married her.
I always look at it before I go to a concert, they do not change much between venues on the same tour. Just been looking at Glen Hughes so I know what to expect on Monday night. Good news is, its all Deep Purple stuff.
Looks like I was wrong. https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/new...pping-transformation-derelict-coltman-2032143 My KHS years were'63-'69, my brothers '60-'67.
Yes sir, 1961, remember it well, a girl called Sheila, not giving the surname, someone on here may have married her..
