    Preview;
    We face Hull on the back of their impressive 2-2 draw against the league leaders on Tuesday night. They now find themselves on 41 points, and 7 points clear of the dreaded drop. I have fond memories of Hull's first year in the Premiership in 08/09, when after nine games they found themselves third on goal difference, on the same number of points as the top team. They only won two more games that season but still managed to stay up as results went their way on the final day of the season. They were relegated the year after. Since then they have spent two more years in the Premiership, but like ourselves, have never been able to establish their place in the top flight. After relegation last year, they will be disappointed to be as low as they are, with the dreaded double drop not an impossibility.

    As for us, we had a mixed Easter weekend. A disappointing Good Friday saw Reading win 1-0 at the Madejski, but the weekend ended with a very enjoyable 4-1 win against Norwich at Loftus Road. With nothing major to play for over the remaining 8 games of the season, I fully expect some of the younger players to be given as much game time as possible. The likes of Smyth, Manning, Furlong and Osayi-Samuel will surely benefit from some no-pressure games time, and give Ollie the chance to try new formations and see what works and what doesn't.

    I hope Holloway's main priority rest of the season is to get as many points we can, firstly to ensure we are mathematically safe, and then for us to get as high in the table as possible. Second priority should be giving young players more game time. Seems like he's doing it all right the way he has been. Throwing in a whole load of youngsters at somewhere like Hull, who have just played 2-2 at Wolves, could get us a tonking that hurts the Club and the youngsters involved. Hope to see more young players when we are 3 or more up with 20 minutes to go.

    We can still make the play offs,

    Ahead of kick-off at Saturday’s home game against Queens Park Rangers, there will be a minute’s applause in memory of former QPR player and manager Ray Wilkins who sadly passed away this week at the age of 61.

    Wilkins played more than 200 times for the R’s and managed the club from 1994-1996, part of an incredible career in football that saw him become one of the most popular figures in the game.

    After starting out at Chelsea, Wilkins went on to play for some of Europe’s biggest clubs including Manchester United, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Rangers, and he achieved the ambition of every footballer as he captained his country during 84 appearances for England.

    It was no surprise that Wilkins then went on to enjoy a successful career in management and coaching, taking charge of QPR and Fulham before assisting at Chelsea, Watford, Millwall and Aston Villa. He also had a spell as assistant to Peter Taylor with the England U21s and led Jordan’s national side in 2015.

    Wilkins also became a respected figure when moving into football media, giving a fascinating insight into the game in roles with Sky Sports and TalkSport, and we invite you to join us in remembering a real football favourite on Saturday.

    Our thoughts are with Ray’s family and friends at this difficult time.

    Interesting difference in perspective about giving young players experience. I agree that we don't want to damage players moral by bringing them in too early and losing by 3 or 4. At the same time, I would like to see players given experience in real matches, against teams who are going to be competitive. As much as I love durbar's optimism;
    ...realistically the playoffs are just about beyond us now. 16 points off relegation and 13 points off the playoffs makes either one massively unlikely.

    Maybe we should wait until we are mathematically safe before experimenting too much, but it'd be nice to not completely let the rest of the season fizzle by.

    Of the bottom 3 only Barnsley can catch us and they'd have to take 17 points from the last 21 points and us not take another point....so think it's safe to assume we won't be relegated this season.......
    Hopefully Ollie has a target of 60+ points by season end, maybe I should do a poll of how many points we'll get, yep good idea!!!!!!:1980_boogie_down:

    I hope Ollie and the players have a bunch of incentives around points, position, goals scored and conceded, discipline etc. Any luck we can pay them on commission only.

    I know in the old(en) days players were paid and amount based on whether they win , lose or draw but does that still happen?

    Tempted to do the 500 mile round trip for the chance to meet Andy Sinton and get a free shirt.

    Also tempted to punch myself in the face.

    Best of luck to anyone going and if it’s your first trip to Hull, it’s ****.

    I only hope that, with this weeks very sad events, every player picked to wear the hooped shirt (and this also counts for Ray's other clubs), plays in a way fitting for such a legend.
