A damned shame .What a legend Ashbee is,led our club on fantastic journey wel never forget. Thank you Ash,and good luck in whatever you do now. Managment ?
He'll end up in the gutter with Bullard, off his tits on drink and drugs, surrounded by hangers on, his legend tarnished
I wonder how much he regrets handing in a transfer request? He could be retiring here, along with the number 4 shirt, true legend status and a cushy job for life, if he'd played it better.
My thoughts were he should have retired at the end of the first PL season. Not from a "he's past it" point of view, just that the season before was Windass' crowning glory with us, and that 1st PL season was the best Ashbee could possibly accomplish with us. We were always going to be struggling again the next season so there wasn't going to be a greater accomplishment, and with his injury problems in the past I didn't think it was worth him risking another one and it affecting him in his private life afterwards. Similar reasons, less the injuries had me saying after Wembley that Windass should either retire or go back to Bradford because he'd never top scoring that goal.
Totally agree, I bet he regrets that decision, as it terned out he would probably fitted into NB coaching team. However he was probably swayed by Brownies silver tongue.
Great city player !!! i remember most people used to moan about his sideways simple passes - he had very few supporters in his last 2 seasons at our club from what i could gather.
His end is his own fault. If he had slapped Bullard down from the start and done what he should have done then he could have ended the right way. Nobody pushed Ash into free holidays and drinking sessions with Bullard. Shame but i shall remember Ash the way he was pre-Bullard. Legend and nobody will ever match what he did nevermind beat it.
Oi Ashbee my mate says you're a spoof. Full respect to Ash. Things didn't end how they should have but we'd have had a much poorer experience without him. To come back like he did after the knee operations shows the mark of the man. Altogether now: HE'S DONE IT THREE TIMES IAN ASHBEE HE'S DONE IT THREE TIMES.
Thanks for requoting that idiot DJ, see the silly child is still having tantrums about Pearson, it's not Pearsons fault a grown man like Ashbee was led astray by a vile character like Bullard.
Its a shame to see it end like this for Ashbee, he was a great servant to the club when he was here and before he started hanging around with Jimmy, oh well everything changes sooner or later
