For me the difference between Woolfy and the rest of the young players is that he's always looked like the experienced pro from the off. In terms of his positional sense, composure, decision making and command and setting the tempo playing out from the back. For me he's a no brainer to be first name on the team sheet at the moment. I would keep it Woolfy and Wilson with Nsiala as understudy when he's fit, Ndaba behind him and Chambo in reserve for a crisis. Downes, El Mizouni, Dobra... these are exciting players and I would rather give these lads game time over the likes of Dozzell, Emmanuel who have not taken their opportunities. There also MUST be some young forwards at the club who can come in and help Norwood and Jackson instead of playing Roberts up front.
We do have some young strikers but the two most likely to step up are both injured. I've always said Downes would be the best of the current crop, and that Kenlock had more chance with us than Emmanuel. Woolfenden should be paired with Toto in the middle and Chambers as back up.
Latest news KVY out for 12 weeks after surgery on adductor tendon injury. I don't know if we are especially prone to injuries through bad training/preparation/care of players, signing injury prone crocks no-one else wants, plain bad luck or a combination of all three?!
Maybe all 3 Bigal. I have long been worried about our record of injuries which has often stimeyed our progress at key times, or worse, caused our downfall, for, what 3-4 seasons now. If this is obvious to the likes of us, why hasnt a specialist gone behind the scenes and done an appraisal,a health/training assessment of some kind. Worth the odd £thousand to at least identify the weaknesses and any pattern. And playing in L1 never gonna be light & easy!
Wasn’t he crocked when he signed? He’s a quality player, probably the only reason better options weren’t in for him.
Not really surprised as he’s not been on top of his game recently James Norwood: Ipswich Town striker out until April after surgery https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51585528
I’m sorry but I don’t think it’s anything to do with luck. 2 players this season have had minor surgery (Norwood & KVY) & within weeks they have had to have 2nd surgeries. Added to the fact, the number of players we have long term injured means there is something massively wrong with either our medical staff or training facilities. Surely ME or 1 of his advisors must be able to see this or is it that they just don’t care?
Welcome to Planet ITFC, where what is bleedin’ obvious (to us mere mortals),seems to totally evade multi-millionaire Marcus Evans and his team of highly paid “professionals”
It only takes a couple of injuries and our squad looks weak. Should've strengthened with another striker and CB in January. If we would've done that I would have been confident we'd make the top spots, now I'm not even sure we'll make the playoffs. We've got too many players injured, relying on too many players who've had long term injuries and players with limited experience. We really needed a couple of extra seasoned durable players to come in and get us over then finish line but again we make our life more difficult by not strengthening
New Season, same s#|t Aaron Drinan: Ipswich Town forward out with thigh injury for two months https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54203588
So Sears is our only match fit striker we have...(although Norwood n Hawkins are close, we hope) Jacko - Injured Drinnan - Injured Morris - Injured Norwood - Made of glass Hawkins - Lack of match fitness Add to that; Wolfy - Injured KVY - Injured Lanky - Injured Nydam - Injured I say stick Tonto up front to be the next Bam bam....
Training facilities for me. The players that left us (McGoldrick is 1 example) Constantly injured for us, plays every game for Sheff Utd. I'm also not 100% sure that Wolfy is injured. The cynic in me wonders if there's a bid in for him
There may well be a bid for wolfy, but it would be suicide to sell him. We cant have a promotion team with just Toto, Wilson and chambo the only senior CB's.
I fully expect two to three of our best players (plus possibly Jackson) to move on and ,as per usual, we will be expected to compete with a squad of ever declining quality.
Now it’s Norwood. Definitely lacked match fitness and had put weight on since March. What does this leave us with up front?
