Clearly this can't apply to all, BUT if such weak, lily livered 'bleeding hearts', as these, are responsible for educating U K children I truly despair! Obviously, the topic headline should have read 'If' not 'I' - if a mod can change it, it will be much appreciated.
Teachers are phenomenal. Anyone who chooses to do that for a livving these days has my ultimate respect. I can;t see the video (as out IT department, in their infinite wisdom, lock down streaming on Black Friday - as this is obviously where you buy things from!!) but teachers have so little right to punish nowadays. Primary school my daughter goes to had a parent come in after their kid (8 year old) had drawn on a large number of walls with black marker. This child was shouted at to stop - ran home crying and the parent came in and bollocked the school for shouting at his kid. Parents and the lack of discipline are far more to blame nowadays!
This with knobs on!! I can't see the video either and I'm sure that there are some idiots involved, but for the most part teachers are massively underappreciated.
I find it very interesting that two respondents have jumped in supporting teachers having admitted that neither of them have a clue what the thread is based on (not being able to see the video). So much for believing that pupils should be taught to keep open minds! They must both be teachers - only they would fail to appreciate the irony in their posts!
I'm not a teacher but I see what goes in to being a teacher every day. I will be the first to criticise the permissive, self-absorbed, whinging attitudes that have seeped into society and which your video would appear (based on your description) to be about. However, not one teacher that I know embodies such values and in fact form an important bulwark against the increasingly pathetic character of our nation. They are, however, extremely put upon and have, as you have demonstrated, an increasingly thankless task.
He's just looking for an argument, if anyone deserves sending back to where he came from, it's this nob.
Not any more. But I admitted to not being able to see the video - the teacher in question may be, as you say, "fragile" but to label all teachers as the opening title does gives us every right to jump in. I used to teach maths & IT at college - too much pressure for too little money. That's why I champion teachers. Label this teacher as fragile, but don't label them all
Is this the video you wanted to post a link to? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-en...chers-share-their-stories-in-video-for-pupils
I prefer people to watch it. Worth pointing out, I think, that there are a number of 'fragile' individuals in the video.
It's very strange, as it doesn't appear in my original post BUT the link does show if I click on edit.
Someone posted that you are supposedly a well respected poster. However, not by me! I never have even a modicum of respect for any individual who continually throws out intended insults from behind the safety of his keyboard.
Your post made you come across as a bit of a dick. Now someone has posted the video, and it's confirmed it
Those that can, do. Those that cant , teach Nobheads whinge about things they have no idea about on social media
I have now watched the video. Maybe you think that some of these people are soft. Maybe previous generations did have to be tougher than the current one. To a large extent, I would agree that society is too soft. However, bullying happened in the past too and as this video was produced to support kids who have been bullied, you have completely missed the point. I have to agree with Clocky that you seem to be on a wind up or trying to provoke an argument. Anyone who criticises teachers clearly doesn't have a clue what they're talking about and really needs to educate themselves on what the profession is like nowadays.
