In thinking Flanagan is a complete pile of shyte.... https://the72.co.uk/236302/worst-pl...ns-rip-into-29-y-o-after-lincoln-city-defeat/
I don't like slagging players off and try to look at positives. But I posted I hope I never see him in a Sunderland shirt again The other day. I'll be surprised if he's still here next season. (Or maybe not ) Ok I'll be surprised if he's still here and not fooking up.
Burge not absolved of all the blame for the rebound goal, but Flanagan at least 2/3rds at fault. On Saturday if he and Macfazdean are playing i cannot see us keeping a clean sheet. So can we score 4 goals or win a penalty shoot out?
To be fair to Burge I think he's been highlighted more recently due to our poor makeshift defence. Which got even poorer with the latest addition.
i fail to understand how professional footballers can make so many simple errors, we can all of us have that lapse of concentration we cannot explain but the sheer amount of times this squad loses the ball is mental, it is not even as if they have to work hard to take the ball from us, we actually pass it directly to thier feet and that has cost us a few points. obviously, such mistakes are far more highlighted when they happen in defence but it has been a constant thorn to me for at least a couple of seasons, failure to find a team mate with a pass, burge has probably been one of our more improved players but a mistake from him will usually lead to a goal, where a pass going astray further upfield stands a chance of the defence stopping the attack so he inevitably gets more stick...flan does not fill me with confidence in any way, in fact the only defender who has recently is dion, onien and power have done a sterling job but were 'excused' a wee bit due to being out of position, a striker can basically screw up a dozen times a game and as long as he grabs a goal or two as well, he is fine. so my hope is that the new regime find players who can pass most of the time to a team mate, there will be the odd mistake in there but we really need to cut many of them out currently.
Watching seriously mishit passes straight to the opposing player is annoying but what pisses me off as well watching is that a player will make say a 5 yard pass, then just stand and watch instead of moving into space to receive the ball back. I can't think of too many times where a player has passed the ball to a teammate then either dragged the opposition out of position for another player to run into (that's if the player was actually watching!) or run into decent space to try and make the player pass the ball back to them.
Thats just simple football. Show me a team who cant do that? Shows me a group of players who couldnt give a ****.
100% agree, watch any 'big' team and you rarely see players just standing watching, as you say, they pass and move to at least drag opposition players away or to find space for a return...also you see hundreds of runs that never get a pass but they keep doing it simply because it keeps the opposition guessing, our lot are just too stagnant and easy to mark imho.
this being our point, simple football 'rules' if you like, pass and move but far too many times in recent years our players pass and stand still, schoolboy errors that keep repeating.
I still cannot get over his role in the first goal either. Just standing there static watching the ball go past him to the back post. Why the **** didn’t he swing a boot at it?
Steady on with that criticism - most schoolboys I knew were far more mobile than that! But on the plus side, we must have a premier league standard walking football team.
He's nearly as bad since he came back from injury. Our defence at the moment would be the worst in the league if the season had just started (not including the injured players).
