    Outs
Jordi Van miss the ball, Alexi Andre. As mark Little doesn't seem to be wanted by JB three new RBs Baldwin Ehmer Koiki, Williams Hare Tutonda Upson, Oztumer, Westbrooke, Agogo, Bennett, Barrett

    in's / Keep

Kilgour, Harries? Davies if fit, Kelly, Grant, Nicholson, Liddle, Leahy as MF Rodman, Hargreaves, Walker, Martinez, Tomlinson, Hanlan, Daly, and Ayunga

I have not included any of the young players in this list who might be close but not picked

Harrison and Ollie Clarke who both know that league having played with us and others this season. If Chelsea have any up and coming players like McCormick then we should take a closer look

I have no idea on who to go or stay. Some players may find L2 easier and therefore worth keeping. Ultimately we have players under contract who will be with us regardless what we all think of them and they will be with us unless we find a few stupid clubs willing to take them off our hands. Doubtful, so when Barton says he will get rid of everyone, he can't.

I know Leahy was our top scorer this season but his defensive efforts were poor so what is all the fuss about

Paul Coutts is tipped to be our first Summer transfer window signing, He played at Fleetwood under JB and was part of the Sheffield United team that went from league 1 to the premier under Chris Wilder. He has been released and is a free transfer

Welcome Coutts, Hughes, Finley and Anderton!

Four in one go. Don’t know much about any of them but I hope they are good enough to get us straight back up.

2 Midfielders and 2 defenders wonder if this is a subtle hint to Ehmer and Baldwin that they are no longer wanted

Centre defence and a left back

Zac Clough available on a free after being released by Wigan

    Coutts:

Coutts is vastly experienced in the EFL, with over 400 appearances to his name and multiple promotions on his CV. Coutts made his EFL debut for Peterborough against Rovers in September 2008. The game was a nine-goal thriller, with Coutts' side edging out Rovers 5-4 at home. He made 42 appearances that term aided the Posh's push for promotion to the Championship. Coutts next move saw him join Preston North End, linking up with his former Peterborough boss, Darren Ferguson and was later made club captain at Deepdale. In January 2012, the midfielder joined Derby for a reported six-figure fee and went on to make over sixty appearances in a three-year spell at Pride Park that was hampered by injury. A move to Sheffield United in January 2015 began a five-year stay with The Blades for the midfielder, who quickly became a regular to play a part in both of their promotions from League One and from the Championship. Coutts joined Fleetwood in July 2019, working under Joey Barton and making almost 40 appearances in the curtailed campaign that saw the Cod Army reach the playoffs. Last campaign, Coutts made 20 appearances for Fleetwood, playing over 1,000 minutes of league action. A loan spell in the latter stages of the 2020/21 campaign at Salford saw the midfielder gain his first experience of playing in League Two, amassing 15 appearances during his loan spell.

    Finley:

Finley started his football education at Everton's Academy. His first venture into senior football came in the Welsh Premier League with a five-year stint with TNS. During that time the midfielder won four league titles and also played in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Champions League. His most prolific season for the Welsh Premier League side came in 2013/14, where he recorded ten goals in just shy of thirty appearances. During his time at TNS, Finley coupled the four league titles with two Welsh Cup victories and was part of the TNS side that won the Welsh League Cup. A brief spell on loan at Wrexham saw the midfielder get a taste of football in English football, making 14 appearances towards the conclusion of the 2014/15 season. A move to AFC Fylde in 2015 began a three-year spell in the North-west, where Finley became club captain of 'The Coasters', winning promotion to the National League in 2017. Following an impressive first season in the National League with AFC Fylde, where the midfielder contributed 6 goals, his performances caught the attention of several EFL clubs. Finley joined Accrington in the summer of 2018 and became a mainstay in John Coleman's side. His EFL debut came in August 2018, in a home fixture against Gillingham and he registered his first goal a fortnight later in an EFL Trophy encounter with Mansfield. Finley finished his first campaign at Accrington with over 40 appearances under his belt. The 28-year-old featured under current Rovers Manager Joey Barton last season at Fleetwood, making his debut for the Cod Army against his former side, Accrington. Throughout the 2020/21 campaign, the midfielder played just under 1,700 minutes in League One. Two of his three goals last season came away from Highbury, scoring on the road at MK Dons and Burton Albion.

    Anderton:

The full-back has signed a two-year deal after captaining his Carlisle side towards a run at the play-offs in League Two. Beginning his career with Preston, Anderton has grown to tower at 6ft 2, boasting a physical presence for a left-back, enabling him to also slot in as a left-sided centre-back. A series of loans from his hometown side eventually culminated in a permanent move to Barrow in the National League, back in 2016, where Anderton was able to showcase his quality. Following a stellar season, Anderton secured a move to League One Blackpool, before going out on loan to fellow League One side Accrington Stanley through the 2018-19 campaign. In search of regular football again, Anderton opted for a move to Carlisle in January of 2019. A goalscoring debut helped the left-backs case as he took to the side well, taking the captaincy a few months later ahead of the 2020/21 season. In the 2020/21 season and with the armband on his sleeve, Anderton showcased his quality as an all-around full-back, delivering consistency across the season, scoring in the top 6 for his side on average tackles per game, interceptions, clearances and blocks. Displaying the right attributes to lead the squad, Anderton also excelled off the field, being named the Carlisle Community Player of the Year for his work in the community throughout the 2020/21 season.

    Hughes:

The 34-year-old has signed a one year deal with the Gas following an impressive spell with Accrington Stanley, working under the illustrious John Coleman. Developing through the ranks with Everton, Hughes has captured experience at League One and League Two level with a number of clubs. It was with Northampton where Hughes secured his first consistent spell of football, playing over 100 games for the Cobblers at League One level. Moves between Walsall, Bury and Morecambe followed for the Merseyside-born defender, who was ever-present throughout League One and Two. Hughes also has a promotion from League Two on his CV, playing over 50 games for Accrington Stanley in their 2017-18 promotion campaign, notching four crucial goals along the way. His consistent run that season forms part of a spell at Accrington lasting over 200 league games since January 2016. This included an impressive feat in the 2020/21 campaign, playing every minute of the condensed season up until the final game of March, where he was forced off through injury, a run of 36 games up to that point.

My take on these players, all experienced and leaders as captained their former clubs. Type of players we missed last season. Good signings on paper. I have seen some comments from fans from these players former clubs who hasn't been too kind with their thoughts on these players, which is a bit worrying. I will give them all a chance though for sure.

3 of them are ex Accrington players so looks like we are fast becoming a retirement home for their former players <laugh>

I seemed to remember that Baldwin, Ehmer were supposed to be good signings and were praised by supporters and Ehmer was supposed according to his old chairman the greatest thing since sliced bread, all I remember was that Sunderland were the last team to Visit the Mem before we supporters were not allowed to attend and were one of the poorest teams to visit last 2019 / 2020 and Baldwin wasn't good enough to make their team that evening

Just seen this on another forum about Finley.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52369355

Finley received a 8 game ban after charged by the FA for using abusive comments towards an opponent for being Irish. He denied any wrongdoing twice but later admitted to it.

Finley had also been charged in 2016 while playing for AFC Fylde, when he used abusive and insulting words, which included references to sexual orientation, towards a match referee.

Sounds like Barton's type of drinking buddy!

There's nothing wrong with having a few Stanleys in the side. Leaders are much needed out there.

James Daly has joined Stevenage on a free transfer, cannot believe that he has been allowed to leave when we keep players like Barrett who I think is the laziest player ever to put on the Blue and White Quarters

Daly looked really good, and if he'd been given a run he would have been great for us. We'll probably get some 36 year old journeyman from Tranmere to lead the line. Not too hopeful about Barton to be honest.
