Anthony O'connor... signed on loan until January is a 21yr old defender at Blackburn......under 21 international Republic of Ireland player....spent 32 games on loan at Torquay last season....as yet to play for Blackburn's first team.

Also......Welsh International Defender/Mid-fielder......Darcy Blake 25yr old training with Argyle at present......had a previous loan spell with Argyle in 2009.

He his a free agent.....having been released by Newport C at the end of last season.

Was this the player he wanted previously or is this a panic get to fill in with kick off only a week away. Darcy Blake is a decent enough player as well.

I mentioned Darcy Blake on the 4th August..........training with Argyle to regain fitness....he is a free agent at present......has Sheridan made a decision yet about offering him a contract or not .......have I missed it?

As far as I can make out he is nowhere near any sort of fitness (but is presumably getting there)- there are also rumours suggesting that his off the field behavior at previous clubs means that he would be seen as a significant risk. I get the impression that he is training with Argyle at his own request but will need to impress JS a lot to be offered any sort of a deal, but who knows? (these are just rumours from someone relatively close to the club so could be complete drivel!)

Been checking various websites regarding Darcy Blake......he had been dropped whilst at Crystal Palace because of his fitness levels dropping.....and had been reminded that you have to work at retaining your fitness,........also has had some injuries as well.....maybe because he ain't fit enough.

Seemed to have performed better for Wales than for his clubs......showed potential at Cardiff but kept out of team by others....Palace let him go (fitness?) and Newport also let him go......so he can play at a higher level when he puts his mind to it.......so he seems to be lazy or is attracted to other things other than football.

What has been said is that he asked Sheridan for the chance to train with Argyle and maybe the chance of a contract if he could improve his fitness......Sheridan has given him that chance.....if he knuckles down he could be a good player at this level....positions played...anywhere down the right side,defence,mid-field or wing.

Correction from above....after reading more....it seems he refused a new contract at Cardiff and C Palace paid £350,000 for him.

Also seems he can play anywhere in the back four or mid-field....could be useful player......or is he a jack of all trades and master of none ?

It seems that by mutual agreement Darcy Blake and Argyle have gone there seperate ways........Blake is no longer training with Argyle.

Worrying news that Matt Lecointe's knee has gone again......had one scan.....having another soon.

Took part in some of pre-season but not since.......flared up in training it seems.

It was always going to be another winger notdistant as Sheridan had said as much this week. I'm a bit old fashioned I know but I like the old out and out wingers. We have sort of wingers at present. Somebody who can actually go past a player and cross a ball might be quite novel for us. Sort of Craig Noon'esq. If he plays against Luton at least we can see what he can do as it's on the box this weekend. If he is at Swansea then at least he can pass a ball to one of his own which again will be quite a novel concept for us. I think some of our's are coloured blind at times.

Well yes but we have Banton and Thomas and Alessandra must play somewhere because he's the best all round player we have. I'd have thought we're short of specialist midfield players, given we are playing O'Connor there at present.

Banton so far has been pants. He isn't what I'd call an out and out winger either. If the bloke started playing as we know he can then I would be happy not to have another wide player but so far so bad in my book. Alessandra is a sort of wandering minstral of a player. Best when not in any particular position and pops up wide and in the middle. Wouldn't want to see him stuck out there all of the time to rot. Norburn not a specialist midfield man? I think we are ok there mostly with one or two of the youngsters doing quite well in those positions. It's harder to find a Nallis or Friio or McCall these days for this league.

There is a bit of talk on pasoti today about Reid. We are all so intent on who is coming that I for one was forgetting the transfer market cuts both ways in and out. On the Argyle website there is an article by Morgan talking about Reid impressing with his goalscoring not only last season but continuing this. On the radar of higher clubs who might come calling if there is a panick with lack of goals. If not now then January when they will be looking to plug a gap and save their jobs. We cannot afford to lose these players and in my opinion Brent cannot afford to say no. Dangle a carrot with a fiver on it in front of his nose and he starts to salivate. Balloon payment beckoning soon.......

Sheridan was adamant at the weekend that he needed a right winger.

This lad Alex Bray....19yr old winger......hasn't played league football for Swansea yet...although he did play against Plymouth in the friendly recently.....and he's still coming.

Staying until Jan 10th....lets hope he gets a few games and prove that he's got some of those passing skills that Swansea seem to delight in.

I've been thinking exactly the same thing about Reid - 20+ goals last season and is it 5 from 6 games so far this season, albeit including penalties? At least he's on a proper contract and perhaps his failure to make the Championship grade with Yeovil will limit interest.

No point the lad joining you if he's not actually going to play. Hopefully,he will gain some valuable experience, and help you in gaining lots of points. Good luck.

Confused with some write ups on Alex Bray.....some call him a winger...others a mid-fielder.....Sheridan said he wanted a right winger....so can he play there or not ?

The thing about this lad coming here is that it is very likely he will play. The one thing Plymouth does is take a loanee and give them match experience. I like the sound of lightening quick because some of the defenders in this league are tortoise slow and if he's that quick they may not be able to kick him often enough to stop him. Only question is, if he can beat a defender can he then cross a ball? Reid would benefit from the service and probably score more than he already does. Even Morgan might get on the sheet if he could keep up.
