A guy in work has been done. He sold his Iphone and did some online transaction and sent it off. It promised him the money earlier if he sent the parcel and gave a reference but it was just a way of getting the parcel on the way before payment and of course the payment never came. He's in the position of being able to track his phone being delivered to a criminal via Royal Mail. It's currently "out for delivery". The Police "don't deal with this sort of crime" Royal Mail are not open.
Need to get back to doing things the traditional way. Writing letters to loved ones and using land lines to ring them up etc. Internet has ruined the world.
I was wondering about the address, could it be an empty house or something? Too far away to go there. He sold it on Gumtree.
Birmingham. The police have got their arse in gear and are going to go and try and intercept the parcel.
Yeah no sympathy for people like that, wouldn't even class it as internet fraud tbh just someone being a ****ing idiot.
I agree. There was a fake PayPal notice on there that basically said along the lines of... How do you get the money earlier? Post the parcel and obtain a reference number, email the reference number to...and payment will sent.
What person or company sends something before the customer has paid for it?! If you want to order something online, you place the order and pay, then the order is despatched! Ebay is the same, have sold a few things on Ebay, and would never send anything until I have received payment. Paypal rules are such now that if someone paid and you didnt send it, they would easily be able to get their money back.
I had some **** try to do me over on eBay. The item was large and listed as collection only, so he paid via PayPal and collected, no problem. Then 27 days later he filed a complaint with eBay and PayPal saying the goods were faulty and he was due a refund. Fortunately his tack didn’t work and they backed me, saying it was buyer beware and he should have inspected the goods properly before removing them (they defo were fine btw). However I was warned that had he tried the tack that he never actually collected them, and I couldn’t prove he did, then he’d have got a PayPal refund. So if I ever sell anything collection only I refuse to take PayPal now.
My wife got done by one of the bank emails telling you to log in. I just delete any email from a bank. Anyway she clicked on the email and it takes you to an exact copy of that banks website. They cloned our card and we got a call asking if we'd been to NY on the weekend.
lol Wouldn't happen with my bank, every 10 minutes they put my card on stop and check to see if my card has been stolen. I order a lot of vape **** from China, and they are always texting and calling me when I place an order to make sure it is legit. Kind of annoying, but I would be grateful for that vigilance should my card ever actually be stolen or cloned.
We've also had our card cloned from a cam on a cashpoint, loads of dodgy stuff out there. The cam thing is not easy to spot but online stuff is catching idiots out.
My bank are like that and it does get a bit annoying but you think well better safe than sorry... However, last month I made quite a large payment to an account, they rang and queried it and checked the account details that I’d entered online, they were correct, so they made the payment. I got a call a few days later to say the recipient hadn’t had the money land in their account, so I checked my balance, cash gone. So I rang the bank, they checked their records and they’d paid the money to a completely different account ffs! Someone had retyped the details and entered them wrong, they tried telling me it was somehow my problem and I’d have to try and get the cash back myself! I went light they passed me a round a bit and the message remained the same. To cut a long story short, I ended up escalting the complaint and threatened them with the ombudsman, as it plainly their error. After investigation some ****er got the tin tack and I got some compo and my cash back.
