Ipswich Town 2021/22 - season predictions

With just over a week to go until the start of the 2021/22 campaign, optimism is drifting through the mid-summer Suffolk air. The Ipswich Town we tolerated/hated (delete as applicable) over the last few years - bloated, sedate, complacent, and underachieving - has been more or less axed and consigned to history. Our old owner - cautious, distant, cold, and naive - is now a minority shareholder and watching from the sidelines. The new owners are ambitious, ruthless, and clear on their expectations and goals for the season. They've invested time and money in this club by giving the stadium a long-awaited lick of paint, freshened up the facilities, and overhauled the Ipswich Town squad. Ten players (and counting) have already come through the door, including Wigan's key player Lee Evans, League One's third top goalscorer last season Joe Piggott, Barnsley's promising jewel in Conor Chaplin, and MK Dons' star man, Scott Fraser. But with defensive recruitment being slow off the ground and the pressure on this new-look team to gel, get results, and compete for automatic promotion - could promotion this season be an unreasonable objective? 3rd (promoted through play offs).

79 points.

3. Who will be our top goalscorer?

Joe Pigott.

4. Who will be our player of the season?

Conor Chaplin.

5. Who will be the flop of the season?

James Norwood.

6. Will Paul Cook still be our manager at the end of the season?

Yes.

7. How far will we go in the FA Cup, League Cup, and the EFL Trophy?

FA Cup - fourth round
League Cup - second round
EFL Trophy - group stage

8. What will be the average attendance?

24,815

 

Wow,that’s too much hard work for me(call me a lazy old man!).

I’ll stand by my standing prediction of a 2-1 win for Town each match but with more confidence for the coming Season.

Final position,happy with a top six place then promotion via the Playoffs.I’ve a suspicion we will start a bit slowly as things take a while to gell both on and off the pitch but hopefully we will be fully firing by Xmas.

Don’t know enough about all the new players to single any out but I’m just trusting we play with a bit more coordination and attacking spirit.

I can’t remember when I last looked forward to the start of a new Season as much as this one.

It's really good to see some positivity on this board for the first time in a few seasons now. Although I'm Norwich i do have a soft spot for ITFC, being the first league team I watched, with the exception of a cup match at Leicester.
( My uncle lived in Filbert St.)

 

Easy anglia is a better place and more fun when we’re both doing well. I miss the PL derbies. Hopefully not long til we meet again.
