After the Cup replay on Tuesday, just noticed our next 4 Championship games are against current bottom 5 clubs - Luton, Huddersfield, Wigan and Stoke.

That doesn't make them any easier than any other opposition in this division, but it makes you think that if we're going to get anywhere near the top 6 this season, February is the time players and manager to "turn up".

After those four we've got two contenders in Forest and Brentford both at the CCS. It would be nice to be somewhere near them in the table by then to make them genuine 6 pointers.

Pie in the sky? Probably, but still on the cards and 16 games still to go. Leeds at home just after those two would be massive.

You know me OS, glass half empty.

In any event there’s no easy game in this league as witnessed at Leeds yesterday:emoticon-0138-think

We’re just as likely to lose at eg Luton as win at eg Fulham.

Then we've only got ourselves to blame Nin. These sides are at the bottom for a reason - they are getting beaten.

Wigan's win at Leeds yesterday was a total fluke - Leeds should have put them to the sword in the first half - once again, they've only got themselves to blame for that.

We still have an opportunity to salvage something from what has been a total shambles of a season by stringing half a dozen results together - and that means wins in the main instead of the points sapping draws that we're turning out.

With you there OS but it’s palpable City just haven’t got that vital cutting edge in the box.
The opposition find it hard to beat us but not difficult to avoid defeat.

Apart from the injured NML, Uncle Albert will be our quickest player. If he still has his pace and we can get the ball to him early (not our greatest attribute I know<doh>) we may cause opponents a few problems and might give our starving strikers some chances to feed on.

Would be good for both him and Smith to start on Tuesday. To move onto the next round of the cup won't go amiss.

Those next few league games are our opportunities to pick up some good points and get into the play off positions. Can also inject confidence for the harder games to follow. If we can't then the season will be as good as over by the end of February, unless we get a cup run.

Change last comment. Uncle Albert can't play Tuesday as he's cup tied. Played for Forest in their 2.0 third round loss at Chelsea.

At least he'll be fresh for Luton.

On last night's performance, yes it is all over.

Good first half with Reading fielding the slowest and fatest footballer ever in Charlie Adam. He was blowing out of his fundamental orifice after 10 mins. Effectively they were playing with 10 men.

As a result we bossed midfield and looked good. With Adam being shown the bench (reinforced) at half time. Reading looked a different team and we reverted to type despite an excellent goal from Glatzel. Poor defending, poor passing, little creativity. It was no surprise Reading got back into it, twice.

    Then penalties. <doh>

My first thought when I saw him walk forward was, why?

Glatzel has taken and scored from a pen this season. Surely he should have been first up.

Flint would have done better heading the ball off the spot. At least he would have got it off the ground.

Unfortunately that balls up set the tone.

Bright sparks were the 2 youngsters making their debuts, the left back in particular. He looked calm and composed and defended and got forward well. Linked up nicely with Murphy.

While apparently still playing like a dog's dinner.

Wednesday at t'Hudders will be a much tougher test as they are finding some form.

Yes - but The Wurzels, the Jacks, Leeds and Blackburn all lost whislt we were doing it - or hadn't you noticed?...............<laugh>

'Udders will be a tougher game on Wednesday, but winnable. With Wigan at the CCS next weekend we could (I say could <doh>) make some serious progress. With Leeds away to Brentford in the week, and then the Wurzels on the weekend, anything is possible.

Having done the business at Luton, just about, the next 2 games take on a proportion we would not have considered after the QPR embarrassment.

4 points from these 2 would do it for me with 6 being a bonus and putting us right in the frame for the play offs.

    Can we do it?
