Is the Premier League over-rated?

I came on here out of schadenfreude but I agree with you, the PL is **** with all that money bloating it up. It trickles down into this division too, making it harder for pub teams like us to compete when all we've got is a fiver in loose change haha!

Maybe its because we (Arsenal) are slowly becoming more and more irrelevant as time goes on, but I would actually agree that the premier league has become a bit boring - and this is coming from a top 6 club!

We have never really had money to compete with the likes of City, Chelsea etc, and are therefore drifting further and further away from ever winning it again.

In fact, Ive been closely following the Championship this season, and I have to admit, Its been rather enjoyable, and the unpredictable nature of the league certainly makes it more entertaining than the premiership. (though this is without having a horse in the race, so to speak)

Having said all that, remember it was not so long ago that Leicester were champions, so maybe one day, things will change.

I think the saddest thing about the PL is that the top six clubs (generally) have more foreign players than British ones. Winning is everything and local pride doesn't count much at all. How can a fan say he supports Millwall, Leeds or any other club that is made up mostly of foreign imports and no-one from Bermondsey or Leeds itself?

 

We do have several locals in our team, but I get your point.

 

Someone said, a while back, that the English league was being 'over run' with foreign players and and English kids not being able to make it into good club teams that may have been one of the reasons that the English National side weren't doing so well. May be some truth in that.

 

The premier league, is ****ing **** lads. Us Hudds fans won’t miss it. The championship is where it’s at.

I'm not bothered in all honesty Mighty, as much as I'd have been delighted that we did go up, I'm just as happy down in the Championship, playing real football against genuine football teams. The premiership and Sky have created a very sterile product in my opinion. It's like collecting those paninni stickers, you may buy 4 or 5 packets a week, but if you've the money and you can buy up boxes of them it's not a level playing field.

 

Morning all. Money has reduced the PL from a football competition to a mad scramble for money' If the clubs in the football league broke away from the PL with no promotion or relegation the PL would miss the league clubs more than we would miss them.
