So Redfearn has been given four games (including Bristol) to make the job his own. What a disgraceful move by Bates. He clearly had this planned ahead of sacking Grayson. Should Redfearn win one and draw one of the next three then he is the new Leeds manager. Lucky for him then that the fixture list is a bit kind to him.

Bates has shown us his masterplan - Leeds will stay in the Championship as long as he decides he wants us to. There is no point trying to make sense of this move. Should Redfearn lose the next three we have no chance of promotion, and Bates can say oh shucks, he thought it would be worthwhile giving the lad a chance. Should Redfearn somehow get the job on a permanent basis, Bates knows he won't get us to the Prem.

Now, what if Redfearn does somehow fluke promotion, is he honestly the right manager to make this club great again? Definitely not!! This move by Bates is a complete joke. Here we are, this sleeping giant, within touching distance of the playoffs and Bates does this. What must the players think? Where is the highly qualified manager we need now? Just plain crazy!!

Will a top manager come to Leeds if Redfearn blows any hope of promotion? I think Bates will leave him in charge to the end of the season anyway, fudge his replacement until mid August and in the meantime sell Snodgrass, Clayton and McCormack and let White leave on a free.

Bates has shown his colours, he treats our club and its supporters with utter disrespect, whilst doing as he pleases with the money coming in. What is the point of Yorkshire Radio? Seriously? Why use the club's money for personal legal bills? What is his actual intent with Leeds United?

I am so tired of hearing how he saved us from oblivion, how he is building a club and it will take lots of time so we supporters have to be patient. I am sick of this tax dodger telling me I'm a moron if I don't agree with his methods. Well Mr Bates, you are right. I am a moron!! I should have stopped handing money over to you years ago. Guess what? You will not see a single penny from me again. I will not be going to anymore games, I will not renew my membership, I will not subscribe to the matchday magazine again, I will not renew my LUTV subscription, I will not set foot in the club shop again.

You see Mr Bates, you are the moron, and Leeds supporters will now show you how we feel. It is time to get the Chelsea out of Leeds. Enough is enough, no more lies, no more spin. It hurts to see what you have done to our great club, how you have turned a club legend like Lorimer into a biased mouthpiece. Take Ben Fry with you when you leave, because the empty seats and falling income will soon have you out of our club, no doubt with a volley of abuse aimed in our direction as you walk out the door for the last time!!

I admit it isn't ideal but i feel you're being a bit dismissive of Redfearn. He seems to have galvanised the team and spirits are apparently high so why don't we give him a chance?

Personally I think it's while Warnock sorts out his pay off with QPR.

Aye, they were all shouting for the names of Revie and Wilkinson when we needed them!
Give the guy a chance, I don't particularly want a big name, I just want the right man/person for the job, who knows it may be Redfearn.

Boab, help me out here. A lot of guys on here seem to subscribe to the belief that it suits Bates to keep us in the Championship, as it will suit him financially. I don't get it though - surely promotion would generate an extra £30-40m pa for Bates to do with as he pleased. Can you explain it in simple terms for a numpty like me?

Doesn't he have to pay creditors a further amount if we got back into the Premiership within a certain time. If we stayed in the Championship he keeps his pockets lined, but as you say I'd be surprised if has to fork out that much more to creditors!

Redfearn doesn't have anywhere near enough experience for it to be permanent, surely?

Revie was an innovative tactician long before he became a manager.
Wilkinson got Sheff Wednesday promoted and steadied the ship in the top division.
Redfearn has failed spectacularly with Scarborough, Northwich and Halifax.

Which is the odd one out?

Redfearn will not cope under the pressure of leading a club the size of Leeds. We really need an experienced manager to drive us on. Teams are always "galvanised" after their manager gets sacked, and the red cards also helped. Redfearn is a good youth team coach and may well be a good assistant a la Kidd and Kean. I fear just like Kidd and Kean he will be out of his depth making the step up permanently. Experience and quality is what we need now, not gambling on whether or not our youth team coach can become a manager or not.

I think you've got it right. I wouldn't mind seeing Redfearn in an assistant role to a new manager.

Im agreeing with the general view on this thread. Not sure Redfearn can make the step up not that I dont want him to but I'd considerably prefer an actual manager

And you base this on what? Beating a nine man Bristol team. Pointless trying to read anything into that. Red fears is no spring chicken and should have emerged as a manager before now if he was any good. Why should we be the club to let these guys serve their apprenticeships at. Now bates ridicules Ericssons application for the job. Fair enough, he's useless and I wouldn't want to see him with the job but bates wouldn't pay one tenth of the wakes Sven can get.

I don't want him as the next manager. If you read my post after that, i did say that i'd much prefer Warnock to be appointed. However, none of us know really know what effect Redfearn is having on the players BUT by the sounds of it, they enjoy playing under him. All i'm saying is that if he wins all of the next 3 games and we are playing good football, why not give him the chance at least until the end of the season? Yes he has a terrible record currently with teams managed but its just wrong to automatically dismiss somebody, especially as he won his first game (yes there were red cards but a win is a win!) and numerous players have said they want him to keep the job. Keep an open mind people and lets see what happens. Again, for the record, i too would prefer a "proper" manager, but lets just support Redfearn for the moment as he is the one currently in charge.

this is a sensible post although i think it may be dismissed by the norm. There is no reason that if he wins all of the next 3 games and plays good football that he shouldn't be given an oppportunity as you say at least until the end of the season. I would prefer better now and someone who is known as being successful but these kind of appointments do work well sometimes

Aye, don't we have to pay £35m to creditors if we're in the Prem next season?

The idea of giving three games to Redfearn is insanity. Lose them and we blow any slim chance of promotion.

i only hope that the delay is while the proper next Manager sorts out his severance pay, or has chance to leave his present club, amd I'm sure Redfearn is totally aware that it this appointment is temporary..... won't do his CV much harm tho will it (that is of course providing the Bristol result wasn't purely down to playing against nine men !!)

It stinks of lack of ambition, just like Bates stupid transfer policy that relies on occasionally finding an absolutely amazing player among an ocean of crap in freebies, youngsters and loans. Another snide remark about us complaining about loan signings with the comment about a "loan signing scoring the winning goal" against us when we played Arsenal. **** wit can't understand that one or 2 quality loan signings can be the difference between a good side and an excellent side, but they cannot be the backbone of a team.
