no game on saturday but doubtless gt will be watching the results of chelt v brewers, gills v gulls, morecambe v sarfend, oxon v maccs and swindon v ackers, no doubt the result of argyle v daggers may worry the gas. we play crawley on monday and the only significant game on tuesday is swindon v burton, 3 home games on the trot for our red leader 1
right the cobwebs of the top of l2 have blown away and we are now into the run ins. swindon shrews and the creepies have a comparatively easy run in and cheltenham have feet sapping mind blowing set of fixtures. given the last few results from chelt, i am now discounting chelt from auto promos. i have swindon or shrews with 90 points and and the creepies in third. there are about 11 other clubs who may have a tilt at the playoffs. i am not discounting creepies games in hand we have 1 as well. southend , chelt and 2 others may be in the play offs. last nights win was a golden key to league 1 but the shrews must work hard to stay with swindon. a brisk run along fairbourne sands would be useful to the lads to prepare them for crewe away. it was nice to hear that our lads up front were at last doing what they are paid to do.. floreat salopia a glass of water and alka selzer for our chairman please.
could the rottweilers come unstuck at home to lowly brewers tonight, i suspect not. vale play crewe tonight, i suspect uncle graham may be watching this as we are away to crewe on saturday. floreat salopia
Port Vile are close to administration, on Midlands Today tonight. One interviewee said that administration was one of the better options available to them. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17192738
great result for town, shades of their recovery against barnet at home in october. it looks as though cheltenham are being kept in second place by fresh air. good wins for swindon and gulls. shrews need a big result on saturday preferably with wroe playing for 90 minutes. but thanks to wrighty and richards for salvaging our home record and a point against a rapidly improving oxon. and their result against the rotties was no flash in the pan
I sat directly inline behind Richards shot, the whole pitch just seemed to stop and watch as he lined up to kick. Why their goalie didn't move only he can tell.
Macclesfield V Crawley Shrewsbury V Burton Albion Southend V Accrington Swindon V Cheltenham Torquay V Bristol Rovers The important games for Saturday. It's a big game at the top and I assume we all would rather Swindon win or draw. Obviously the great Bristol Rovers will romp to a 10 goal victory over their lesser opponents.
some great results bantams 2 oxon 1, maccs 2 creepies 2, s/end 2 ackers, swindon 1 chelt 0, gulls 2 gas 2 league swind p35 gd 36 p73 shrew 35 18 65 s/end 36 19 64 chelt 36 19 64 gulls 35 11 63 creepy 33 15 58 oxon 35 14 55 gills and crewe are within 3 points.. town need 3 points from their game in hand
right lads shrews in 2nd place with a game in hand. 11 games to go. 6 home-chelt,vale,shots,bantams,millers and daggers away--plymouth, morecambe, maccs, ackers and wombles. wow what a strong position shrews.
IMO we should win all 6 home games, but will win 5 and draw one. I also think that none of the 6 away games are easy, that we will lose at least two and it will take a lot to come out with more than one away win. However, 6 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses isn't too bad - a further 21 points which should get us over the line (just about!).
Last season's table after 35 games. Looks promising compared to then as we still had thrashings at Torquay and Aldershot to come. http://www.shrewsburytown.com/page/LeagueTable/0,,10443~20110308,00.html
Interesting to note that we were the only one of the teams ultimately in the play-offs who were in a play-off spot at that stage. And also promising that the top three then were the top three come the end of the season.
there are 2 games affecting the top on tuesday night. crawley face an in form shots and the millers entertain the gulls. come on the millers and the shots!
