We need a defender and a goalkeeper. We lose three key players instead, for practically zero return, beyond wages saving. Let’s hope the next three hours or so see some effort to strengthen the squad, as our competitors seem to be doing.
I confess to being somewhat disappointed we couldn't sign Wells, however....maybe it is time for one or two other to take up challenge. Marc Pugh (in my opinion) has never really been given an extended run in the team - maybe this is his chance. We have youngsters that might possibly have a chance to prove themselves - maybe this is their chance otherwise they could be off in the summer? Glad that Smith has gone to Charlton - a little too lightweight for us. MW was never finished with his tinkering at the start of the season I dare say that we probably wont really see his vision until the start of next season. Hopefully we can keep Hugill......and continue to supply him.
On a serious note, it appears that the club reckon we're safe in mid-table this season and are thinning out the squad to the bare minimum in order to maximise the saving of money. If we do end up with this small squad it will be a bit of a gamble.
Also there is thought that what ever we could have sold Eze or BOS for now we would have got extra in the summer. I hope they are right as if it all goes pearshaped they may have reached their maximum price now We just need to hold our place , and spend money in the summer. I agree
Agree, 12 points above the relegation zone with 17 games to go. Our board have obviously decided we are as good as safe. Hope they have done their homework.
“Will the last player to leave please turn the changing room lights out, as were absolutely boracic lint and we haven’t got 10 Bob for the meter” First eleven through the turnstiles on Saturday get a game !!!!
Other money saving options, remove a few bulbs from flood lights, don't cut the pitch so often, get the WAGS to take turns washing the kit.
