Just read Harris' comments on why we haven't signed anyone yet. Said we came close on a couple but they didn't happen. Wonder what his definition of coming close is? He also said they have other irons in the fire. Okay still 2 weeks to go but it would be nice to get at least one over the line if only to give us something more to discuss. Contrast that with Swansea who have used Plug's connections to get 3 good youngsters in on loan. Putting any negative thoughts aside Brewster did okay on Sunday despite Morro's "friendly" welcome to the Championship tackle. He also showed a bit of dog when fouling Tomlin and didn't shirk anything through the game. He should do well for them. A few days ago I raised the question of whether or not Harris would have more influence than Warnock in getting good youngsters in from Prem clubs. At the moment the answer appears to be a resounding, No.
Just spotted that Harris has intimated Joe Day could go out on loan if Etheridge stays. That would free up a few more grand in wages. Would need an immediate recall option should either Smithies or Etheridge get injured. Or resign Murphy.
I’m not too sure it does reduce wages, well not by much as lower league clubs are happy to take a player on from a higher league so long as it doesn’t cost them.
makes you question why the he cant really......ok when we were kids lots of keepers couldn't give it a thump like an outfield player but surely from the age of about twelve he should have been practising sh,it like that.
Perhaps he's going to take the fares on the Big Dipper?......... https://the72.co.uk/154932/blackpoo...nderers-and-cardiff-city-striker-gary-madine/
Remember this guy? Our "transfer committee" decided not to bother with him last January despite his prolific strike rate and went for ES instead. All hindsight I know, but what a difference in so many ways for all concerned if they'd made the other choice. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51140189
If rumours are to be believed, he will find plenty of late night, fairground fights there. Seems right up his street.
McGoldrick was considered at sometime, but the two players directly in the frame at the same time in January 2018 as Madine were Grabban and Dack. The "transfer committee" considered the options and obviously made the right decision.
Let’s be blunt here the self styled transfer committee is not fit for purpose. Disband it and employ some trusted consultants who have experience in sourcing players suited to a particular club.
There has to be input from the manager - style of football to be played - and there has to be input from the business side of the club - budgets regarding signing on fees, salaries, length of contract - but there still seems something missing. Its back yo that footballing nous, or whatever you want to call it. Its been missing for years. Not sure how we but it in though. Maybe there should be a 'which of these players shall we sign' thread on here. Harris and Choo can post their shirt lists on here and we can veto signings.
Another one for the mill................ https://www.footballinsider247.com/...ign-croatian-striker-his-club-open-to-offers/
Cant get into his parent clubs side so out on loan, shows a bit if promise so the recall him to sell him. If he's still not good enough to get into his parent clubs starting 11, can we gave a look at their starting striker?
