Ralph talking about his lack of fear of players moving on in January. In this morning’s paper, not the Echo, he is quoted as saying that the number of contacts he is receiving from agents, offering players, has increased. https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/s...tl-not-scared-losing-players-transfer-window/
No link to us, and not saying that we need a new right back because KWP is doing a great job, but there could be some interest across the premier league for James Tavernier, who plays for Rangers. 10 goals and 7 assists in 16 games and, as already stated, he’s a right back. No idea if he can defend but those are eye catching stats in any league.
I’m sure we are out looking for a LB to understudy Bertrand but what else do we expect to see? I can’t really see us bringing in any new players for first team contention at the moment. Younger bodies that we can spend the rest of the season getting fit and schooled on the RH approach is my bet. I think we will need another dynamic mid at some point as we’ve only got 3 in the middle at the moment.
I expect us to loan in a full back, likely one that can potentially be deployed at both LB & RB. Other than that we will probably get the official line "if the right player becomes available at the right price, we will move" and then sign nobody because that rarely happens in the january window.
We could do with a back up striker (who can actually score), but it's not really a position a club like us can attract. Perhaps in the summer rather than January. Long and Obafemi don't even make the bench some games and I think we started to look lost of ideas in attack the more we played without Ings. Walcott as mentioned is only a loan and while he did okay deputising for Ings, him down the middle was nothing special. We see the best of Adams when he's alongside Ings, so you start to worry when Danny isn't in the side, just maybe not a priority for January.
I think that’s what they’ll be looking at and will certainly get a full back. Maybe a midfielder on loan but I can’t see us signing anyone there until summer.
I think we’ll be looking at forwards but probably won’t do anything until summer when we know about Ings’ contract and see what happens with Walcott. Oh and it should be Patson Daka. I think I’ve mentioned him before.
Telegraph: Southampton are keen to sign Manchester United and England Under-21 full-back Brandon Williams on loan next month. And Solskjaer is now thought to be open to allowing Williams to spend the second half of the season on loan.
Presumably Manure would want him to be spending time on the pitch and I can't see him replacing Bertie.
We were linked with Mohamed Simakan around a year ago when we were looking for a right back. He fitted the bill as a young player with potential. He is also a good centre back too. I believe he would be a great addition, maybe not for January but come the summer he would be perfect to fill Valery and Stephens positions.
We get linked to anyone with 2 legs and a pair of football boots...so best to operate a wait and see policy...then everything is a nice surprise (we hope).
