Not really. Unless Fernandes rebounds and takes back control, I can't see the owners going on a splurge again. We're still a long way short of being realistic promotion contenders and need upgrades in several areas who can develop and generate re-sale profits over a couple of years not expensive stop gaps. The aim next season has to be to become more clinical and get to the verge of the play offs. 7th would be fine by me if we can keep the core of the team together for another year. It is important also to remember that: 1 The coffers are bare after a season without crowds. Unless we want to to copy the likes of Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday we have to keep tight hold of the purse strings. 2 This has been an extremely unusual season and there is no guarantee that we will do as well when crowds return. Home advantage was neutralised this season. Liverpool are a classic example of a team that lost its way, at Anfield in particular, through not having crowds to watch them.
