Hernandez and mcgregor out hopefully for a good, price And any of the below especially fosu mensah Ulloa Crouch Fosu mensah Rhodes Dennis (from uniteds last europa league opponents) And hope mason and henriksen hit some form
Neithers most of our team What he is is an improvement on what we have Tell me will keane or diomande are better than ulloa or hernandez
Rhodes would be an awful buy! He doesn't hold up play well, slow as a cart-horse - you need more than just being able to finish in the Premier league. Rodriguez would be a better fit in my opinion.
Not saying we should buy him but considering how his stock has fallen how much do you reckon Rhodes is worth now?
As usual we will wait till the last hour of the transfer window when all the signings worth having have been done by other more astute clubs, City will then pay over the odds for some duck eggs
Gestede is available, buy him and Rhodes and we've got a ready made strike force for a crack at the Championship title 2017/18
Assuming Ehab is still holding the reins come January (which we all know he likely will be) then I wouldn't bother expecting anyone either (a) decent or (b) remotely familiar signing for us.
I think you're bang on the money Ren, desfrogs comment nails it perfectly too. Personally, I can't wait for January 1st to peruse the stars that our ''usual suspects'' will be bandying as prospective buys, and then watching them go into complete meltdown and pant wetting mode as the 31st approaches and we STILL have no new warm bodies in the building - this football supporting business must be so stressful for some.
Hate to be a party pooper and at risk of repeating myself lets look at the situation as many are presuming were going to buy and theres a pot of cash available We recently borrowed 20m for the summer signings im guessing this was borrowed against the final payment of the sky tv cash which was recieved after the transfer window had closed (i may be wrong) I repeat that was the final amount of sky tv cash to be paid to us Which leads us to the question is ehab going to dip into his own pocket to finance any signings? In fact that would make a good poll question I cannot for the life of me seeing ehab put any more of his own cash into our club Which then leads us to how he'l deal with phelan and what phelans reactions will be For me phelan will be told he has to sell to buy or that simply no cash is available and to make the new signings work So onto how phelan reacts he'l either take it on the chin and try and make use of what he has with a couple of cheap loan signings or freebies Sell some players and reinvest which seems unlikely after recent comments Or he'l do a bruce Interesting times
Minor point but Ehab doesn't have any of his own money. If it wasn't for Daddy he'd be stacking shelves. I just think it's important that the little slimeball isn't afforded any undue respect. Phelan won't do a Bruce. Even Bruce didn't want to do a Bruce. Phelan desperately wanted a crack at management, that's why he took one of the least appealling jobs going, because he needed that chance to prove himself. His focus will be entirely on making the most of this and putting himself in the shop window for future jobs. The only way he'll leave is if there was another club lined up, and if that did happen I think he'd be gone in a flash.
He's still a top Championship striker and will go for north of £10m. Never thought he was good enough for the PL
Agree about ehab Il be very interested to see how phelan reacts to being hamstrung if it happens I think it all depends on how ehab handles any discussions if hes not respectful and phelan feels undermined etc who knows
Have we been fed the "talks out on hold until after the transfer window to ensure stability" line yet?
I thought it might be. I predicted when the Grieve takeover fell through that we'd see a successful takeover bid on February 2nd. I'm standing by it.
Hate to be negative here but I really do feel it would be a smart move to prepare ourself for next season in the Championship. Buy a proven championship goal scorer, a bit like Newcastle have done with Gayle, but get him in now and not later (when 3 or more other teams will be in for the same player) A Rhodes would be good.. Campbell, give Crouch a 18 month deal perhaps? Scott Hogan?
