I can't help thinking that we'll end up paying way more for Maddison in January if we sign him than what we could have got him for in August if we just payed what they wanted. Maddy-pops adding to his transfer fee all the time with games like last night.
If he doesn't make the world cup squad I think we'll pay less than we originally offered. Those 6-8 week of no PL football, with other players being highlighted by the worlds media will affect the valuation of a player who is refusing a new contract and within the last 18 months of his deal. Leicester's arse will go on both him and Tielemans in Jan.
I assume he'll make the squad but not play, as Southgate isn't gonna break up Rice, Bellingham, Sterling, Saka etc. Just noticed he's only got one England cap so far, which I'm very surprised about.
I think he might even be feeling he needs a higher profile club to achieve his ambitions. For all we've got a long way to go, we've already got two England Intl's in our team.
And then please, pleade, please can we offload Murphy to the Scottish PL, where he might even look like he can actually play football.
Did OK on Saturday, but was against 10 men. I've always thought he could have a place as an impact sub/squad player though, and he's something of a liability as a starting player. But form can go up and down - 6 months we wanted rid of Longstaff, but he's been back on form recently.
I see Murphy more as an impact sub too. The impact being that when he comes on, the quality of our team goes down.
I didn't realise that Shelvey is only 3 senior games away from triggering an automatic renewal clause on his contract (which otherwise runs out at the end of this season). I wonder whether the club paid to have him injured against Benfica? Others up for contract renewal in 2023 are Dummett, Clark, Matty Longstaff and Ritchie. I can't see any being kept on beyond this season, unless Ritchie joins Howe's coaching staff.
Ekitike oh you fool. You made such a mistake for your stupid agent. Have we dodged a bullet? https://www.nufcblog.co.uk/2022/10/...rom-bad-to-worse-after-newcastle-united-snub/
He's been slated in France prior to his poor showing at the weekend for having a poor attitude towards training, he even did an interview where he stated the game time is what mattered not training time
Hard to know why we chased him for so long given that the club now apparently does in depth analysis on players' characteristics, attitude and work ethic and before signing them.
Only he played 90 minutes upfront with Messi etc last match which of course means he's done well in training. Some bitter nufc fans said he'd never play.
and managed a whopping 4/10 game rating playing alongside Messi. failing to register a single shot or a single touch in the opposition box. Last striker to have a stat that bad was Agbonlahor He was hooked off before the 60 minute mark so never played the 90 n all
PSG weren't exactly at the races in general, but the boys what 19 and he's playing upfront for PSG.... Fair play to him. You both said he'd warm the bench all season, but he's not. Ask yourselves how easy it would be to fool people training with players like that every day in training? I'll remind you and Roly once again that you don't know better than the scouts, coaches and manager at PSG.
