Sorry, Cardinal, but I think that would be a horrific start - Fer going anywhere, I mean.
<yikes> He's proving to be integral to our season, let's hope he at least sees this season through.

Agree we should start a 'sticky' Jan transfer in / out thread, though <ok>

Newcastle already have a top class keeper, so I can't see Ruddy going there, plus he signed a new contract, they would need to pay a lot of money.

I can see bigger clubs wanting Fer, we don't need to sell anyone but if a player sees a bigger club come in then their heads might turn.

Why would we sell Fer and risk relegation?

Agree can one of the mods sticky this?

And please, if / when they do, could everyone who contributes talk about the player(s) involved, rather than turning it into a(nother) coconut shy - with Hughton's head as the "prize".

Please? I guarantee there'll be a far higher number of 'worthwhile' contributions if it pans out like that <ok>

Aren't one of the Italian clubs supposed to be interested in Krul? If he goes, then I could understand them looking at Ruddy.

    Done <cheers>

Didn't know that, hopefully it won't happen. Although I doubt we will sell any players we don't want to let go, I believe every player has a price. Would take a lot to buy Fer and Ruddy from us.

    Thanks for sticking :

Yep - Fer going anywhere would be very bad as would Ruddy leaving. Just meant it was a good start to the mega thread!

Glad to see this up and running. I think these rumours like Fer and Ruddy are going to crop up, but if you read the articles closely both amount to speculative journalism. In the case of Ruddy, why would he go to Newcastle when he turned down Chelsea in the summer? Fer is a certain starter every week here. Would he be at Lazio or Napoli? He's getting a lot of attention here and he's made it into the Dutch squad for the world cup. Why would he want to risk losing all that? City have no reason to sell either Ruddy or Fer as they don't need the money.

I could potentially see Garrido going elsewhere if he continues to not get game time. Whether that would mean us buying another fullback I'm not sure.

I've also seen the story re Krul being scouted by European clubs, in which case Newcastle may well try to tempt Ruddy away - can't see him wanting to go myself. they could also go after Forster now Celtic are out of Europe. We've no need to sell any of our first team players now that Doomcaster is north of the border and I hope none of them want to leave.

Since McNally has been in we haven't sold any of our best players.

Why would we start doing it when we are debt free and probably looking at really stabilizing ourselves in the Prem. Unless a ridiculous offer was to come in I highly doubt we would sell any of our best players. I think Fer well eventually go for a bigger team but he seems to love playing in the Prem and I think we all see he has the quality to get a huge move if he keeps improving over next couple of years. Personally I think Fer well become a 20 million plus player if he can do that. Maybe more.

That's a difficult one. When he wanted to go and was our best player we kept him. We he wanted to go and we had Wolf coming in and money to get Hooper we sold him. I think we were right to let him go at the right time but I still think we've yet to replace his character and impact in the dressing room. I know I can't know that for sure but just the impression I get.

I think he could be considered as one of our 'best' players at the time of us selling him. Saying that, I think it was the right time for him to go - not just for him but for the club too.

If he was one of our best players at that point he wouldn't have dropped down a league and been sold for 2 million in fairness. Last season he was quite average.

I'm trying to think how many players one could be certain were 'better players' than him last season.

Snoddy, Bassong, and Turner - yes.

Johnson? Pilks? Wes? R.Martin? Howson? - maybe.
