    I hate him.

He did play well vs Wolves, but he's just not good enough is he?

He's a one trick pony and he should be getting assists and goals if he's not making tackles or headers.. I just think when you look at his all around game he's poor in every area bar one which he does excel in, but it's not good enough.. I'd rather have a half decent all around player... Willocks that.

That was simply down to Longstaff and injuries though wasn't it? Rafa very much liked him, but then he did suit his style of football where the midfielders don't have to run.

Not true at all. He used him quite a bit. They simply fell out over the injury and the attempts to rush him back. When there was talk of him going to Fulham, Rafa responded by saying "No, no chance. He’s an important player for us" This is just another attempt to whitewash Rafa's reign.

Shelvey made 48 apps in the Championship winning season.(38 starts in the league plus 4 sub apps)
He made a further 32 the first season up (25 starts in the league plus 5 sub apps)
He made a further 17 in the 2nd season (10 starts in the league and 6 sub apps)

As you can see he was a very big part of Rafa's plans until the fall out. 73 starts under him in 3 seasons, plus a further 15 apps. Thats an average involvement of 29 games per season. Central to his plans would be a fair assessment. Fair enough too because he suited Rafa's defensive sit in style. Bruce can't use that excuse because he says he wants to play front foot football.

He preferred litterally any cm ahead of shelvey.

Andy Carroll will have around 17 appearances end of the season.

Unfortunately the facts say differently. I get it though, it doesn't fit the Rafa worship script so crack on. Perhaps Rafa wasn't all that afterall eh? He liked players you clearly don't rate.

I don't know what rafa has to do with it.

Shelvey was a last resort under him though... He didn't like him and it was well documented.

Bruce lives him though he absolutely loves him

Far from a last resort. First choice in 2 of his 3 seasons. Its well documented he loved him up until Shelvey refused to rush back from injury. The inference being that Rafa felt he wasn't doing enough to get himself fit. Rafa may well have had a point too, footballers are complete fanny pads now. Rafa did this at Liverpool too. Gerrard said he basically wouldn't talk to you or bother with you if you were on the injured list. Some will say its callous, and you need to be more like Klopp, their best friend. Personally I think Rafa had it right.

Look at the story about Maicon and Jose. Jose became aware that Maicon deliberately got himself booked before xmas every year to ensure he was suspended and could go back to Brazil for xmas - to party with his family and friends. Jose ended saying he'd let him go if he scored two goals in the next game. The **** only went and scored two. Sums up some footballers mentality and why Rafa is like he is with them.

Whats everyone's thoughts on how Joelinton did yesterday?

I though he had a good game personally and on the left which is of course his position.

He's still got no confidence when he gets on the box.. You can see he's almost afraid to try and score now...

is there hope? I think it really is a confidence issue personally.

    Your thoughts?

Don’t disagree except I think it’s more than a confidence issue. I honestly just don’t think he has the ability in the box. And for that reason I don’t think he will change, not here anyway as our coaches are clearly not good enough.

I thought him and Ritchie did the left did very well.... In his defense when he gets on the box and he's looking for an option there's only ever one and it takes far too long until the cms arrive.

I feel like newcastle don't get enough fwd and it's the fact the cms are made of lead in comparison to the attacking players coupled with the fact the defenders sit far too deep.

Almiron sub was a killer last night.. Fraser isn't good enough.

Digressing for a second Ritchie was okay going forward but I thought he was dodgy at times defending. Not getting close enough to the Leeds players when they were looking to cross and being beaten for speed as his legs have gone.

He was up against a very good player mind. I thought he had a decent game.. Certainly others out there were far worse.

Hayden and Longstaff are a waste of space and lacelles really is just getting worse...
