The first paragraph sums up most people especially when he says he has never met him but judges him anyway. But it's nice to see people recognising he's changing and playing well even if it's taking a long time to see past his...welll...past

I just read that as well, it's like me saying David Cameron is a smug prick. I've never met the man but that's how he comes across!!!!!

If he bothered watching interviews with Barton he might change his opinion, he comes across very well not a thug which everyone assumes after his previous history (mostly done under the influence).

I'm not saying the guy is an angel, but it is about time people stopped looking soley at his past.

 

People can't get past Joey's reputation.

This season he has been awesome and let his football to the talking.

England's lose is Newcastle's gain.

Capello has said he goe's on form and we know Joey is on top form, but like a lot of England manager's he stick's with the old guard.

 

I hate it when people say "he's had so many chances". This is his second chance now, as he is a totally new person.

 

Even if he has done all these things and is still a ****er, the fact remains that he's been one of (if not the best) English midfielder this season. Whether you like him or not is irrelevant, particularly when you consider other England player's past misdemeanors (a la Gerrard/Terry)

It's time for Barton to gain more recognition for a fantastic (half) season and improve on his grand total of one England cap, particularly as Capello claimed he'll pick the England team based on form and merit.

Barton made a point of walking around and shaking hands with all his team mates and seeminly giving them words of confidence before the KO.
