Well said I do not believe he is a racist but used racist comments in the heat of the moment - but still not acceptable
To be fair mate I said in the heat of the moment - have you never called someone who weighs above average fat or someone with red hair gingernut? I was implying it was a horrible thing to say but I do not believe he meant it racially
I see what your getting at. But racism is a bit over the top for a 'heat of the moment' thing to say.
I agree - I'm by no means defending it just trying to say that people sometimes say things they later regret - he should not have said anything like he is alleged to have said.
If he said it - and he's admitted saying it (although his statements today seem to be a denial of this) - I'm sure he does regret it. still needs to pay the price for this 'momentary lapse' though, in much the same way that a driver that knocks a kid down when having had one too many or when texting also has to pay the price. it's called due process of law, and after the CPS's announcement today, that process rolls on.
It is noticable that he has been charged with racially "aggravated" abuse, which of all the options open to the CPS is the strongest, most serious. They obviously think that they have something. It will be heard by magistrates and not by jury.
@QPRTILLIDIE1882 Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way. Oh what fun it is to see John Terry put away! Hey!!!
I have no real knowledge of these matters, but surely if the CPS have charged terry with "a racially aggravated public order offence" then they think theres a good chance of a prosecution? which means a stonewall guilty charge is on its way?
He's not going to be put away (unfortunately) and he's not going to care about whatever fine they give him. He's going to get the backing of Chelsea for commercial reasons, if no other. But England are going to drop him, and that will really piss him off.
Well sadly Terry is a muppet and even if it was in the 'heat of the moment' he should know better but then again we are talking about JT and we all know he is not that bright. The fine won't mean anything to him, but it does in many ways because if he is found guilt every sponsor or future prospects will drop him like a hot potato. We all know what Terry is like and throughout his career he has always had that bit of a ‘bad boy’ thing about him, whether it was playing around with ‘Bridges’ Mrs, or his on/off field antics or family members not being able to keep out of the press. Think of all those deluded kids that look up to JT and buy all that merchandise? For me he is everything that is wrong with the modern game and how players abuse what fantastic gifts they have. I would send him to ‘The Tower’ and put him on the ’rack ‘.
While I'm delighted he's going to court and if found guilty it will mean the end of his England career, the maximum that will happen in court is a £2500 fine. But how much will the court costs be, is it worth it?
There are some real qpr bitters out tonight. Never mind the Stephen lawrence enquiry, the Barton race murder, KIm dying; the Chelsea captain swearing is more important in our little Loftus Road world
Nice to see your humanitarian concern, but in case you hadn't noticed, this is a QPR forum - and your captain didn't swear, he racially insulted one of our players
